-Aliauna’s POV-
The crisp morning air is the best feeling on my face. The birds chirp, the wind whistles, the trees shake. Nature truly helps me to center my feelings. It has been two days since the accident, and it's currently four in the morning, but I couldn’t sleep, so I came outside to do some yoga. Yes, yoga doesn’t seem like something someone like me would do, but it helps. It's June 24, a.k.a. my birthday, I’m 18.
‘Asuna?’ I say in my mind.
‘Yea? What is it?’ She answers.
‘Can you do me a favour? Just for today, take away my memory of what Kaiden said yesterday… that our daughter is alive. I’d like to try and have a good day.’ I tell her.
‘Yea, I can do that. Happy birthday Aliauna!’
I smile to myself and continue my yoga for a bit before heading inside. I decide to go back to bed for a couple of hours. To my surprise, sleep comes easily.
I wake up to knocking on my door.
“Who is it?” I grumble.
“It’s Esme!” She calls out, very loud and excitedly.
“Come in.” I say, sitting up and pulling the blanket to me.
She walks in and jumps on my bed. I probably look like a disaster, but I couldn't care less.
She just stares at me with a giant smile, unsure of why I just ask what time it is.
“It’s like eleven, you slept so long I couldn’t wait any longer,” she pauses, and I don't say anything, “It’s your birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!”
“Thank you, Esme,” I say, now knowing why she's in such a mood. “Can I get dressed? Then I’ll head downstairs.”
“Yea.” She says, then leaves, closing the door behind her.
I crawl out of my bed and go over to my closet to decide what to wear, we have the day off, so I can wear whatever the f**k I want, but I don't know. After staring at my clothes for a while, I decide on a pair of high waist black leggings, a white crop top, and a red plaid button up top that I left open. I brush my hair and teeth, and finish in the bathroom, then head downstairs.
Mateo runs up to me and gives me a big hug, “Happy birthday, Ali.”
“Thank you, Mateo.”
Eric and Kyle both say it as well, and I thank them.
I walk into the kitchen and don’t see Tyler, I peak in the living area and don’t see him there either.
“Where’s Tyler?” I ask no one in particular.
“He just said he had to go get something and that he’d be back soon.” Kyle tells me.
“Oh, ok.” I say, a bit disappointed that he’s not here.
My phone rings and the caller ID says ‘Elna Star’ I answer, and she immediately wishes me a happy birthday. We talk for a bit, before she tells me to have fun today.
“Aliauna!!” I hear Esme yell while she runs down the stairs.
I turn to her, smiling.
“We are going shopping! It's my gift to you.” She says, leaving no room for arguing, whatever, maybe it’ll be fun?
“Ok, I just gotta go grab some stuff first.” I tell her and head up to my room. I grab my purse, which is really just a little black bag that holds my wallet, my phone, and an extra blade. I also grab two other blades and shove them in my boots, can never be too careful.
When I got downstairs, I see Tyler, “Hey! Tyler!” I call out.
“Hey, Ali. Didn’t catch you this morning, had to go get something. Happy birthday!” He says, and I smile.
“Thank you, Esme and I are going shopping, we’ll be back in a bit.”
Esme grabs my arm and drags me outside to my truck, “Let’s go!”
“Where are we going?” I ask, since I’m the one driving.
“Well tonight we are all going out to a supernatural club, so let's go to the mall! Gotta find some clothes to wear.”
Usually I’d be completely against going to a club, but I gotta live at some point, and who knows what’s gonna happen when we go after Kaiden. “Ok, the mall, here we come!”
We went into many stores trying to find clothes for tonight. Esme found a short, sparkly, black dress with an open back. I don’t really like dresses, so I got a pair of ripped, skinny jeans and a black crop top with a laced back. Esme said we needed new shoes too, so we both got black heels, just hers are open, and mine are closed.
We went home for dinner, Eric made breakfast, my favourite. And now we are getting ready for tonight. We are just finishing with our hair and makeup. Esme’s hair is straight, and she has little makeup on, just some bronze eye shadow, mascara and a nude lipstick. My hair is slightly curly, and I only have mascara on.
“I’m gonna head downstairs.” Esme says.
“Ok, I’ll be right down.” I say to her.
Once she leaves, I slip a dagger in each of my heels, I made sure the ones I got had room. I then grab my ‘purse’ and black leather jacket and head downstairs. I join the rest of the group, the guys pretty much all look the same, jeans, a chain around their necks and tight, dark shirts. Everyone starts to head out the door, I got to follow, but Tyler stops me.
“What is it?” I smile at him.
“You look beautiful, Ali.” He stares into my eyes.
Butterflies flutter in my stomach and I blush, “Thank you.”
“Turn around,” He says, and I do, he puts a necklace on me, the cold metal making me shiver a bit. Tyler moves my hair to do the clasp, then puts my hair back. I turn around and look at him, then the necklace, it's a white moon with a small wolf in the middle. He then reaches out and flips over the charm, “My Moon,” he reads.
“Thank you, Tyler. It’s beautiful.” I tell him.
“We should get going, the others are waiting.” He says.
I nod and we head out the door.
It takes about twenty minutes to arrive at the club. We pile out of mine and Tyler’s truck and head towards the door. I tense when I realize the bouncer is a vampire.
“I’ve got you.” Tyler whispers in my ear and I calm down a bit, but don’t let my guard down completely.
Esme walks right up to the vampire, “Robby!” she squeals.
“Esy! Hello, hello. You and your friends can head on in.” ‘Robby’ says before opening the door.
“The perks of being an Alpha’s daughter.” Esme mutters as she runs away, dragging Eric with her.
“C’mon, let’s get some drinks.” Tyler says and pulls me to the bar. “I’ll have a beer.” he says to the bartender, then looks at me.
“I’ll get a Shirley Temple.” I smile at the bartender. I don’t drink, never had and never will. I don’t mind the people around me drinking, except whisky, Kaiden used to poor it in my cuts, and was always drinking it. My team other than Esme and Kyle know this and respect it.
The bartender get us our drinks and we go find the group. They have gotten a booth near the back of the club. We all sit down and have our drinks.
“So, how’d we get in without IDs? Mhh Esy? Did you like bang that vamp?” Eric questions Esme, clearly he’s had quite a bit of drinks. Eric has yet to shift, so he isn’t at full power and abilities, therefor the rest of us can handle alcohol a lot better than him.
“One, he was one of my dads informants. And two, get f****d. I would never ‘bang’ a vampire.” Esme spits back. She gets up and grabs some random dude and starts dancing.
“Well, way to go, you f****d that up!” Mateo laughs at Eric before heading off to the dance floor as well. I watch as many barely dressed chicks attempt to dance with him, Mateo kindly rejecting every one.
I sit there a little longer before Tyler gets up, “would you like to dance?” He asks me.
“Yea, I'm gonna just grab another Shirley Temple first.” I smile.
I walk over to the bar, sit down, place my order, and wait. While waiting, a tall guy with dark hair and grey eyes comes up to me. I can tell he is a wolf by his scent.
“Hey darling, wanna dance?” He asks.
“I’m ok, I’m waiting for my drink, then I’m gonna go dance with my friends.” I say.
“You gotta mate?” He continues.
Kaiden flashes in my mind, “Nope.” I say, popping the ‘p’.
“So, what's the problem?”
“I said ‘no’, so f**k off.” I say, as the bartender puts my drink down, I grab it and walk into the crowd. Before I can make it back to my friends, the guy grabs my waist, making me spill my drink.
“What the f**k!” I yell at him as he pulls me closer.
“C’mon, just have some fun. It’s just dancing!” He continues to pull me close, and starts feeling around my body.
I freeze, memories of the terrible nights with Kaiden come crashing down on me. I’m completely unable to move and I start crying.
I’m suddenly ripped away from the man, and the familiar scent of honey fills my nostrils. Tyler.
“What the hell, man?” The guy yells at Tyler.
“You better watch it!” Tyler growls.
I hold Tyler close, hiding my face in his chest. He has one arm around me, and I assume the other is gesturing towards the guy, Tyler likes to speak with his hands. I start to slowly calm down, being with someone I associate with safety.
“What you gonna do about it? Huh? You’re just some teen wolf.” The guy sneers.
I’m fed up and just want to have fun. It’s my birthday, for f**k's sake! I let go of Tyler and turn around to face the guy.
“And you’re a pathetic waste of space.” I spit at him, then focus my aura on him. He drops to the ground and whimpers. Esme comes up to me, knowing of the situation.
“Sam! Get this f**k head outta here, now!” She demands. Sometimes I forget she’s the daughter of an Alpha. “Are you ok?” she asks me.
“Yea, I just f*****g want to dance.” I sigh.
“Lets dance then.” Tyler says. We head back by our booth and start to dance.
The music helps me to just let loose and enjoy myself. I haven’t felt this care free in a while, it’s nice.
After a while of dancing, I go to sit down and take off my heels, holy f**k I hate heels. Tyler comes and sits down with me.
“You having a good night? Other than that… what did Esme say? f**k head?” He's jokes.
“Yea, it’s been pretty good.” I laugh.
We sit there awkwardly for a moment before he speaks up again. “Aliauna, I turn 19 soon, in a couple months. It’s been almost two years and I haven’t found my mate. I sometimes think the goddess didn’t give me a mate, so when you finally kill Kaiden, we can be together. Aliauna Malloy… I think I’m in love with you.” He confesses.
“I-I… Uhh, Tyler, I wish it was that simple. I mean, you have to have a mate out there, and I can’t be with anyone, I especially can’t ‘love’ someone, Kaiden would stop at nothing to kill them. I’m sorry.” I tell him, I can’t risk letting out my true feelings. “Plus, Tyler, you’re a little drunk. Can we just go back to dancing?”
“Yea… yea, you’re right, let’s go.” He gives a slight smile.
I go over to Esme, and we start dancing with each other, moving to the beat of the loud music.
I’m enjoying myself once more, until my eye’s lock with the same piercing grey eyes that haunt my nightmares.
‘Mate.’ Asuna whimpers, speaking up for the first time this evening.
