-Aliauna’s POV- “Eric, Mateo, Kyle, take Esme back to the house. She can sleep in my bed for now. Lock the doors and don't completely let your guard down, he could be out there. Tyler and I will stay here and wait for the councilmen.” The three nod and jump in Tyler's truck and head out. Tyler already called the council informing them of the situation, and now we wait. I don't know how long it’ll take for them to get here, so we sit in my truck and wait. “Tyler? Why did we end up with this call? Why so soon?” I ask. “I honestly don't know, Ali, it's all just a big mess.” He says. “But I do know that we are the best team, and you are the best captain.” “Thank you,” I whisper. Just then, two black cars pulled up. Three people get out of the first car, head councilman Samuel being one of them. Two people get out of the second car, both with bags, I assume they are forensic investigators (people who collect evidence). Tyler and I get out of my truck, and stand in front of it. Samuel and the other two councilmen walk towards us. “Aliauna,” Samuel nods at me. I nod back, “Samuel.” “This is Thomas Smith and Frank Wither, both fellow councilmen.” By their scent, I knew both of them were wolves. “I’m Aliauna Malloy, this is my second in command, Tyler Storm, and the rest of my team went back to our house with Esme Wattson, the sole Phoenix team survivor.” “Nice to meet you Aliauna, and you Tyler, as you probably know we are here to know what happened, also to collect the remains of the deceased agents, and figure out where to place Miss Wattson.” Before I could even think, I blurted, “Esme can stay with us! We all know how it feels to lose a team member, and we have one open spot still.” I look over at Tyler, and he gives me a look that tells me her understands and agrees. Samuel thinks about it for a moment, “we should be able to make that work.” “Yay! Another girl!” Asuna yips. “We should get to the main point of our presence,” Frank comments. “Of course,” I say, “My team and I received the call this morning around 11 am. As soon as I was informed I told my team to ‘gear up’, they did, we were rolling out within 5–7 minutes. We arrived on scene probably 8 minutes later. The scent of flesh, blood, and rogues was all we could smell. I sent agent ThunderClaw to the roof of a building, agent E. Storm and NorthMountain went east, while agent T. Storm and I went west. We took out some rogues then we were attacked by agent Wattson, she was out of it, scared and confused. Once that situation was resolved, I ordered agent E. Storm to take her back to the vehicles and the rest of us headed off to find the rest of the Phoenix team. Once we found them dead we headed back to the vehicles, I called the council and sent the rest of my team home with agent Wattson.” “Ok, thank you for your statement. I need to head down to where the bodies are, you are both free to go.” Councilman Frank tells us. I smile at him and turn to walk to my truck. Tyler and I got into my truck and started on the way home. “Aliauna, why didn’t you say anything about the letter?” Tyler asks. “I’m not letting anyone else get hurt because of this, no one else is getting involved.” I told him. “What do you want me to do with the letter?” “Burn it.” No one said anything for the rest of the drive. We arrived home within a couple of minutes, I headed straight to my room, and I’m not sure where Tyler went. As I go up the stairs and turn a corner, I see Kyle standing outside my closed door as if he was a bodyguard. “Kyle, is Esme sleeping?” I ask. “Last time I checked, she was. Mateo’s in there with her.” He tells me. I nod and open my door, once inside, I close my door. Mateo is sitting in my desk chair zoned out, Esme is curled up on the edge of my bed with no blankets. “Mateo?” I try to get his attention. “Oh! Aliauna, hi.” He answers, snapping out of his faze. “Why is Esme at the edge of my bed with no blankets?” I ask. “She refused to use your blankets, it was a struggle to get her to even sleep there, she kept saying she ‘refused to be a burden’. And I’m in here because after that letter, I didn’t want to leave her alone.” I nod. “Well, she won’t be a burden, she’s gonna be a part of this team. Which also means we’re going to need another room, now we can either empty Kay’s room or you can move into her room and Esme can take your room? I figured I’d leave it up to you.” He hesitates, “I… I think I’ll just empty Kay’s room,” he smiles, “my room stinks anyway.” “Ok, you’re good here. I need to get out of these bloody clothes.” I tell him and he leaves. I head into my bathroom and change into other black clothes, but leave off my gear. After I throw the bloody clothes into the hamper, I brush out my hair before re-putting it up in a ponytail. I walk out of the bathroom and Esme is sitting up in my bed. “Esme! I’m Aliauna, do you remember?” I ask. She nods, “are you really letting me join your team?” She must have been awake when I came in, “yes, of course. Hey, we should probably get you something to eat, come on.” We walk out of my room and Kyle’s not there anymore. Everyone is in the kitchen, it seems to be the hang spot, Eric is once again cooking. “I think you missed your calling, Eric,” I laugh. “Very funny Captain.” He glares. Esme sits in one of the stools next to Kyle, and they start chatting. Mateo is bugging Eric and constantly asking what he’s doing. I walk over to Tyler, who sits alone. “I dealt with the letter,” he says. “Thank you,” I tell him. The rest of the day we all just hung out, Esme got a tour of the house and we trained a bit. The next day, I called everyone to the living room. “All of you except Esme know who I am, what my ‘destiny’ is. I’m a Royal Wolf, one of the last. I could shift from the age of 15, my wolf is very powerful, and not only am I a Royal I’m a blessed Royal with powers. I’m the rightful heir to the werewolf throne. My father was King Alpha Damien, my mother Queen Luna Sara.” Kyle and Esme were the most surprised, but the others always seem a bit surprised whenever it’s brought up. “I figured you all deserved to know the truth about who you are working with, living with, friends with.” I stopped. Esme seemed to be taking it all well. “If you don’t mind talking about it, what happened during the Royal downfall?” Kyle asked. “How about I show you?” I closed my eyes and focused. -Tyler’s POV- “How about I show you?” Aliauna closed her eyes. Soon the room faded away and into darkness, the familiar calmness from every time she’s done this, washes over me. A bright white light pops up in front of me while Aliauna finds the memory she wants to show us. Once she’s found the right memory, the white like turns to that of a child’s view. Aliauna has never shown us this memory, but it’s clear the child is her. The child is running around what seems to be a mansion, the walls a white with wooden accents, the floors a grey marble. “Daddy? Daddy! Where are you?” The girl shouts, “are we playing hide and seek and daddy didn’t tell me?” The girl huffs. She rounds a corner and opens a large door. Inside seems like an office. A giant bookcase covers a whole wall. A wooden desk sits in the corner with two chairs, one being an office chair while the other is a little one with Aliauna’s name on it. “Where the heck is my daddy?” She whispers. Just then, an older man with light brown hair walks in. “Aliauna! What are you doing?” He seemed worried. “Gamma Chris, where’s my daddy?” The girl asks, completely ignoring his question. “Aliauna, your father is fighting! There are vampires and rogues attacking outside! You’re supposed to be in the safe room!” The gamma shouts. “An Alpha doesn’t hide!” Little Aliauna shouts back. “Come on we need to go,” the gamma picks her up and runs down two sets of stairs, he opens very large doors and for a moment all that is visible is white light, it soon fades into the fray of warriors fighting rogues and vampires. The gamma, still holding Aliauna, runs through the fray, dodging all attackers trying to get the little girl to safety. A woman screams, drawing the attention of the gamma and Aliauna. Ali looks over to where it came from, a rogue is stalking the woman who lies on the ground with a bleeding leg. “Stay here, I’ll be right back,” the gamma tells Ali as he puts her down. He shifts into a large grey wolf and attacks the rogue. Not listening, Ali turns and runs away in search of her father. “Come on, daddy, where are you?” She catches a glimpse of a giant pure white wolf, “Daddy!” She stalks along the trees, getting closer and closer. She watches proudly as her father kills many attackers. But then a rogue shifts to his human form and grabs a little girl with blonde hair. The Kind Alpha stops and shifts back. “Please don’t harm the child!” Ali’s father pleads. “Kneel!” The rogue shouts at him. The king does, and all the fighting stops, everyone unsure of what’s happening. “King Alpha Damien, such a waste of space,” the rogue laughs, “you will die and after that your pack will be mine!” “MY pack will not bow down to you!” The king says. “Then they will die with you, any last words?” “Aliauna, I know you're out there, I love you. You will know what to do, find Samuel!” Just then, Ali watches as the rogue plunges a sword right through the king's chest. The view got blurry, Ali was crying. “Kill everyone!” The rogue booms over the crowd and the fighting continues. The scene fades back to the white light and I hear the present Aliauna’s voice, “the rest of my pack was slaughtered, women, children, men, elderly, everyone. I was trained young, so I knew I couldn’t stop, I left not even five minutes after my father was killed. I found Samuel, and he took me in and started me with the council and when I turned 10, he gave me a letter from my father telling me to stay hidden, as the heir, till I was at least 17.” The darkness starts to fade away, but it suddenly comes crashing back. The white light once again turns to the view from Ali’s eyes. I’m unsure of what she’s showing us. Ali is sitting in what seems like a dungeon; her wrists have silver bands that are chained to the wall. She only has under clothes on, and she’s covered in bruises and cuts. A man's laughter fills the room. A man with white hair and soulless grey eyes walks in. “Oh little wolf!” The man shouts. I’m suddenly not seeing what’s going on, but back with the white light. “Ali needs us, she doesn’t want to see this,” my wolf Tio tells me. I can hear her crying and whimpering and not in the memory. “I don’t know what to do!” I yell at Tio. “Just focus all your energy on remembering what the room around you looks like, if you can imagine the room you should be able to get out.” Tio says calmly. I do as told, and I’m soon no longer in the darkness. Aliauna is no longer on the couch beside me, but she’s now on the floor in the fetal position. “Ali! Aliauna!” I shake her, but she just continues to cry. “Aliauna, come on! You can get out of it!” I try to focus what aura I do have on her. In hopes, she will wake up. It takes a minute, but she finally wakes up and everyone else is brought back to reality. She looks at me with tears in her eyes, I wipe them away, and she tucks her head into my chest. “It’s ok, I got you.” I whisper to her. “I got you.” “I didn't want to see that,” she cries into my chest, “why did you make me see that?!” Confused, I go to ask what she's talking about when she suddenly moves away and yells, “Asuna! I said no! I didn't want to see him!” I realize she's yelling at her wolf, not me. -Aliauna’s POV- A surge of power is sent through me, and I'm brought out of the horrid memory. When I open my eyes, I'm in Tyler’s arms. He wipes my tears away, and I tuck my head into his chest. “It's ok, I got you,” Tyler whispers to me, “I got you.” “I'm sorry, Ali, they needed to know,” Asuna says quietly in my head. “I didn’t want to see that,” I cry out loud but to my wolf, “why did you make me see that?!” “I told you Ali…” Asuna says. I move away from Tyler and yell, “Asuna! I said no! I didn’t want to see him!” I block Asuna out completely, shoving her to the very back of my mind. Standing up, I wipe my tears and turn to my team. Esme and Kyle seem very confused and concerned, Eric, Mateo and Tyler look concerned and maybe a bit angry, knowing who the white haired man is. Tyler stands up and pulls me toward him, he embraces me in a hug. After a minute, I pull away slowly, and turn to my team again. “I’m so sorry for what you guys saw in the second memory, that wasn’t supposed to happen. Asuna, my wolf, forced that memory on me, on all of you. I’m sorry.” I tell them. “I don’t mean to pry, but who was that?” Kyle asks, “you don’t have to answer, just tell me to mind my own and I will.” “No, you deserve to know what your captains apart of, and you deserve to know what true evil is out there.” I say, “that monster of a man, is my mate, Kaiden BloodStar, I wish he wasn’t, and I don’t know why the goddess would choose him for me. Two years ago, my team and I were on a mission, he grabbed me and took me. He held me captive for eight months, he tortured me and… r-r***d me, all because I wouldn’t be his trophy queen. And then the council elders put together a team, and they saved me. And then a month and a half ago he killed my best friend, Mateo’s mate, and then he slaughtered Esme’s team.” “What do you mean, ‘he slaughtered Esme’s team,’?” Esme asks, I can tell anger is boiling at the surface. “I’m sorry Esme, your team's death was a message for me.” I whisper. “So when do we start hunting him?” “No, Esme, I refuse to have my team be apart of this again. That’s how I got people killed.” I state. “This isn’t just your revenge anymore, it's mine, and Mateo’s, and yours. We’re going to find this son of a b***h, and you’re going to kill him, for all of us.” Esme says not backing down. “She's right, you know. This is for all of us.” Mateo says. “But… what if I lose one of you again?” I whisper. “You won’t. We’re going to kill this f*****g vampire.” Tyler says.
