Chapter 2- You Will Never Replace Her!

1413 Words
-Aliauna POV- Letting out my rage, I throw punch after kick, after punch at the punching bag. After yesterday's events, I didn’t leave my room until coming to the gym this morning. I’ve been down here since six am. I throw another combo of punches when my phone rings. Turning down my music, I look at my phone to see the caller ID read ‘Tyler’. I pick up my phone and answer. “Aliauna where are you?” He asks. “Downstairs in the gym, why?” “We just got a call, the council wants the team back in the field,” he pauses, “Aliauna… they’re sending a council member over to talk about a new team member.” “I’ll be up soon, make sure Mateo is there,” I tell him and hang up. I pack up all my things and put them off to the side and leave. I go to my room to get changed out of my workout clothes. Going into the kitchen, I see Eric leaning against the counter with only a towel around his waist and his dirty blond hair standing in all directions. “I thought a councilman was gonna be here soon?” I chuckle. Eric looks at me, then down at what he was wearing. “s**t!” And he runs up to his room. Shaking my head, I sit down on a stool. A few minutes pass by, and Tyler came into the kitchen, followed by a now fully dressed Eric. Both were dressed nicely, but I lingered a little long on Tyler, his dress shirt fit tightly, showing his muscles. Eric's coughing brought me out of my thoughts. My cheeks reddened. He has a mate somewhere… “You gonna change before the councilman gets here?” asked Tyler. I was wearing sweats and a baggy hoodie. “If the councilman has a problem, they can deal with it.” He just shakes his head. Just then, the doorbell rings. “Someone get Mateo, I'll get the door,” I say to them both and head to get the door. When I open the door I see a lady that looks in her thirties, she seems to be only 5,3”, she has whitish blond hair with light blue streaks in it. Fea. “Can I help you?” I ask in a non-welcoming tone. “My name is Elna Star, I'm with the council, you must be Aliauna.” The small woman says. “There's a Fea woman on the council?” I've never heard of any mention of a woman. “Yes, now, may I come in?” I nod and move out of the way. Elna walks in, and I close the door and lead her to the table where the meetings are held. At the table, I sit at the head of the table, Tyler to my right as my second in command, Eric to his right, Mateo to my left as he became my third in command when Kayleigh passed, and Elna sat at the other end of the table. “While let me start by giving my condolences for your loss,” Elna says, and I scoff. “No, you’re not! The whole council wanted me to fail!” I shout. Remaining calm Elna says, “you are not wrong, many hoped you would, not I. Aliauna, I was you once, one of the few female team captains, everyone just waiting for me to break, but I didn't I showed them I could do it, and so did you. You and your team took down 37 shifters that night. Aliauna, Kayleigh was brave! She ended things before Kaiden had a chance.” Mateo growled at the mention of Kaiden, and I could feel my eyes shining brighter and turning gold. “Aliauna. Ali, take a breath. Let's not break things this time!” Tyler grabs my arms and chuckles a bit at the last part. I take a breath and I feel my eyes go back to normal. Turning to Elna I say, “everyone here knows of my lineage, I assume you do as well.” “Yes, would it be alright if I asked a question?” I nod. “Your eyes, I’ve seen a photo of your wolf, she has green ones like you, what were those gold ones?” “My eyes can still change to those of my wolf, they are just a bit brighter. In both forms, when I have strong negative emotions they burn gold, and sometimes they activate my power with no control, as Tyler mentioned last time things broke.” Elna seemed intrigued. “Let us continue with the reason for my presence. The council believes your team should be back in the field, and that you should have a new sniper. The one paired with your team is, well, sort of ass. His name is Kyle ThunderClaw, he's 18. I think he will fit nicely with your leadership Aliauna. Now boys.” She turns to them, “I'm positive Kyle will undermine Aliauna, but let her handle it, if he thinks that she needs men to help her, he will not take her seriously. Alright, I'll make a call, and he should be here soon. Um, I can’t stay for introductions tho, though I have somewhere to be.” she smiles. After Elna makes the call, she leaves after saying goodbye and that I can call her anytime. About 15 minutes later, a red truck pulls into the driveway. The doorbell rang and I opened the door. A tall man with black hair and dull brown eyes stood in the doorway. ‘Dragon,’ Asuna growls. ‘A self-entitled f*****g dragon!’ I chuckle at her words. “Who are you?” I ask, making sure he's the new team member. “Kyle ThunderClaw,” he said. I nod my head and move out of the way, so he can come in. Kyle and I walked into the kitchen, where the rest of the team was. Kyle looks around the group, his gaze settles on Tyler for a moment before introducing himself to Eric and Mateo, when he gets to Tyler he asks “captain?” I stifle a laugh. Kyle turns to me, “you're a feisty she-wolf, eh?” he asks, seemingly annoyed. “Excuse me?” I asked getting fed up with him. Then Kyle turned to walk away, which ticked me off royally. “I said EXCUSE ME?!” Then he turned to Tyler, “you should keep your team members in their place, no wonder you lost one.” he muttered the last part. Now I was fuming “Allow me to introduce myself, I’m Aliauna Malloy, Captain Aliauna Malloy. Your Captain!” I snarl. “Know your place!” A spark of ‘oh, I f****d up’ lingered in his eyes, along with something else; guilt maybe? I took a minute to calm down, “Eric, would you show Kyle to his room, please?” Eric nods and tells Kyle to follow him. Mateo also storms out of the kitchen, to his room, I presume. Not able to hold it in any longer, I let out all of my aura. Having the aura of a shifted Alpha causes Tyler to drop to his knees and yelp. I quickly force my aura away and help Tyler up. “Are you okay? I'm so sorry!” I ask, feeling bad. “I'm fine, Ali, really. It's not your fault he's a dick.” He chuckles. I fake a small laugh. “I’m going upstairs for a bit,” I tell him before heading upstairs. Turning the corner at the top of the stairs, I almost walk straight into the dumb dragon. I try to walk right by him, ignoring his presence, but of course, he has to say something. “Aliauna?” I lose it on him. “Let's get some stuff straight, one, it's Captain or Captain Malloy. Not Aliauna. Two, ‘we’ are NOT friends, only speak to me if it has to do with the job or if it's necessary. And three, never! I mean it! Never speak Kayleigh’s name. You will never be half the person, let alone the agent she was. You will never replace her!” I snarl before storming to my room and slamming my door. What a great new teammate.
