Tears streamed down Luna's cheeks in rivers as the orb turned back to its normal self.
"Are you alright?" Ryan asked patting her back.
"What happened to her...?" she whispered.
"You can ask the orb-" Ryan began to say, pointing at the orb in the table.
"I don't want to see it!" she slammed her fists on her knees. "Please..just tell me.."
"She was imprisoned by Hera, never heard from again," Sebastian said across the table with a sad look.
She felt he was lying but accepted his answer anyway, truly not wanting to know the fate of her birth mother. "So, what do we do now?"
"You train, you get stronger and you defeat Hera, if that becomes necessary," said Collin as he looked at her with his sharp eyes.
"Is that why you brought me here?" she asked the group of men.
"Yes, although your mother went willingly to her imprisonment, she told Hera she left you somewhere safely. Hera has looked for you ever since and we feared now that you have gotten older, that she is closing in," said Jin ashe grabbed the orb and put it back into the safe. Akira pressed a button on the remote to put the tv back into its original place on the wall.
"Did...did she kill my human mother too?" Luna asked, looking at them with the hope that they would say no, and that it truly was an accident caused by a drunk driver.
Jin saw her pleading in her silver eyes and tears threatening to fall from her long lashes again, "we don't know...we never thought to ask it that question." He came to pull her into a tight hug.
"Although we scared you off purposely, we actually do like you. Our main concern was getting you here safely with us, until you were strong enough to protect yourself." He began to rub her hair and she almost purred, she loved her head being rubbed. Her human mother used to do it to help her sleep and forget her nightmares as a child. She wondered now, if her nightmares were some effect caused by Hera or her Mother's magic.
Collin stared Jin down in jealousy. Although he seemed like, well an asshole, he actually loved her more he thought than the others. That was just the way he was. "I think you've had a long enough day already, why don't you go ahead to bed?" he said smiling at her.
"Yes, thank you Collin." She stood and smiled at him. Collin looked away, not wanting her to see him as weak enough to blush, even though he totally was. Jin was about to get up with her and she held her hand to up to stop him, "It's okay, I know my way to my room now, I won't get lost." With that she waved everyone goodnight and walked towards her room for the night.
*Jin's POV*
When he heard Luna shut her bedroom door with his sensitive hearing, Jin began to let his emotions show. Ugh, why did deceiving her feel like he murdered a kitten? He buried his hands in face out of frustration and shame.
"It was the right thing to do now," he could hear Akira say. "She has been thrown quite a bit of information in the past 24 hours, letting her in easy was the best decision."
"I know logically you're right, but I feel like I just made a huge mistake," he said groaning and rubbing his hands down his face.
"As she progresses with the newfound knowledge of her heritage and learns to control her powers, we can let her know the truth," Akira continued matter of factly.
"I see your point, but what if telling her Hera was still looking for her scares her even more? We all know Hera stopped her search years ago," said Sebastian feeling the same guilt Jin did. "How do we explain to her later that our game was to find her for Hera?"
"We follow that with the truth, we told her we couldn't find her and presumed her dead," said Akira, the pupils of his golden eyes forming into slits.
"Do you know how that translates to someone? 'Hey, we actually were sent to take you to your worst enemy but decided we liked you better than her, so we decided to keep you for ourselves!'" Jin exclaimed in a mocking tone, throwing his arms in the air. He walked over to the closest wall and banged his head against it a few times before stopping.
"In truth, what if Hera started up again with new beings and we didn't know, we could've saved her life," Sebastian said as he came to pat Jin on the shoulder to calm him down.
Sebastian had a point, Hera was a deceiving b***h. Zeus was no prize either but, Hell, he would probably sleep around too if that's what he had to come home too.
Collin stood and began to walk towards his room as was Ryan to his own.
"Where are you two going," Jin raised his head at them suspiciously.
"I, for one, can't sit here anymore and listen to you whine, so I'm going to bed," Collin said with a wave over his shoulder.
"For once, I agree with Collin. It may not have been the right thing to do, but it was the right decision for now," Ryan said in a stern voice. He liked to put up the sweet and innocent surfer boy attitude when Luna was around, but with her not present, he's a real prick.
Both the men exited the living area and left the other three.
"I guess her training starts tomorrow," yawned Sebastian as he also walked towards the hallway.
Jin and Akira stayed as they thought of the best ways to train her. They obviously couldn't keep throwing things at her, she would get hurt. "How about finding out her elemental power. Her mother obviously liked plants, maybe hers is the same," Akira said.
"Or it could be very different, like harnessing lightning," Jin thought rubbing his temples, "How would we even find that out anyway?"
Akira held out one hand and a blue flame erupted in it. "I know when I want to use my fox fire, I just imagine it in my hand and what I want it to do, maybe it's the same."
"Better than any of my guesses," Jin said as he pushed himself up off the wall. Vampires didn't need to sleep, but he knew he'd be at this all night and didn't want to keep Akira awake, since he needed it.
"We can think on this some more in the morning," he said urging his friend to come along. Akira followed and went into his room. Jin went by Luna's room to make sure she was ok. He knelt his ear to the door and heard her breathing softly, as if she were sleeping. With that, he retired to his room to think of what to do to usher in her newfound abilities.
