MARIAM'S POV I glanced at the time on my phone and saw it was almost 7 pm. Thirty minutes had passed since we'd finished dinner, and Miguel had instructed me to wait a while before leaving. "Miguel," I called out, and he looked up from his laptop, which he'd been intensely focused on again in the living room. "Yeah?" he replied, his eyes meeting mine. "It's already 7 pm; I have to go," I said, adjusting my bag on my shoulder. "Wait, let me drop you off," Miguel said, arranging his files on the table. "No, no, that's too much trouble for you," I replied quickly, not wanting to disrupt his busy schedule. He looked at me, his expression thoughtful, before responding.
