Chapter Twelve

Jessie's POV

Today was an early morning for me, I woke up did my morning routine, and got ready for work. I wasn't up for it but I didn't want to stay home all day doing nothing either. I saw a few messages and calls from Ryan but I didn't feel like doing anything about them, I just picked my purse and left for work. To be honest I've considered a lot of things I could do like not see him today including firing him and at him, mostly the last one but then I'll end up in jail. I don't mind taking a vacation but I don't run away from my problems I face them and deal with them like a queen deals with her subjects and that is how I found myself in the elevator that leads to my office floor. When the elevator doors opened I saw brandy talking cheerfully with someone that must be her partner Astrid the one she has been talking about nonstop. When she spots me she rushes forward to pull me into a hug her friend turned and my smile fell I pulled myself together as Brandy pulled back and started introducing us

" Astrid this is Jessie, my sister," she said smiling at Astrid then turned to me

" and Jessie this is Astrid my friend and partner," great just what I needed

note my sarcasm

" Nice to meet you, Astrid," I said and pulled on a smile

" You too Jessie, I've heard a lot about you," she said seeming genuinely excited. I check my watch and said

" Oh gosh I need to go guys I have to get ready for a meeting with our investors. I'll see you around girls," I started to walk away and headed towards my office she seems so young and adorable I don't think it's possible to even hold hard feelings for her. On top of that, she's my sister's friend and partner so I just have to shove my feelings down my throat

" Good morning Ms. Brandon, " Lucy said while approaching me just ato as I enter my office.

" Morning Lucy, what's the matter?" I ain't in the mood today I thought Ryan might have a girlfriend but I just didn't think I'll see her hear and she's so pretty my eyes hurt

" You don't seem to be in a good mood today, what's wrong?" asked Lucy

" Nothing I just have a lot on my mind. When are the investors coming in?" I asked not wanting to let on a lot we are becoming close but I still don't trust her enough if at all, with work yes she's good but aside from that I'm still working on it I want to know if I can. Come to think of it maybe that's why I don't have so many friends but I don't want to just lean on someone and then they let you down like you didn't matter, I learned that the hard way

" They are already here, that's what I wanted to tell you. you're a little late today. Do you want me to come with you?"

she asked. Why does she seem to know something? ah No way I'm just imagining things

" No, it's fine. Where is Ryan?"

" He's already in there with the investors and James too. We thought you wouldn't make it since you're never late," she said

" Okay I'll get going then," I changed my direction instead of my office I went to the conference room.

There wasn't much so the meeting didn't take up all day as I thought but it did take a little bit over half of the day. James and Ryan handled it better than I expected it was perfect. I know James can handle pretty much everything, I've witnessed that over the years since the beginning of this company and Josh too but he's on leave his wife just had a baby and he decided to stay home and help out they're part of the team I started with but Ryan I didn't expect that not that I underestimate him but what he pulled today was something

else.

After the investors left we all went to my office and I waited until they were settled

" Good work boys you did great in there, " I gave a half compliment.

" Is that your way of complimenting us? Cause I wouldn't stand to be called a boy for anything else " James said

" yeah neither would I, I don't think there's anything about us that screams boy is there?" Ryan said with a smirk on and James busts out laughing. No, he didn't

" I walked right into that didn't I ?" I asked trying to keep the mood up

" Yeah kind of, hey we should hang out some times," James said then he saw the change in Ryans face and added" the three of us I mean, you guys are al so reserved , you could use a notorious one on the group, "

" Sure you can come on board any time," I said. Narcissist? maybe but he's fun too and that's all that matters. Just then my phone rang

" Jack? What's wrong?" I asked

" Does anything have to be wrong for me to call my sister?" he asked

" Well, you rarely call these days,"

" Right I just wanted to know if you could recruit me you know like to work for you?" he said nervously

" Only on holidays maybe I could train you why do want to work?" I ask curious this boy is full of surprises

" I was just thinking that maybe I should do business management that way I'll have the best tutor and role model to don't you think?"

" Yeah sure but don't you also think that it's a little too early for that? You still have about a year left to finish high school?"

" Yeah, I know but don't you always say to plan ahead ? Well that what I'm doing planning ahead "

" Okay if you say so but only on holidays,"

I shack my head and hang up

" Your brother?" Ryan asked

" Yeah, ah you guys can have the rest of the day off if you're exhausted. I still have a few things to finish up, " I said opening my computer to get started

" No it's fine it's just a few more hours left we'll just finish up," they said and exited the office.
