Chapter 14

1310 Words
Lucy's POV My plan must have worked, seeing as Jessie was in all boss mode today; no jokes whatsoever I must admit missed her old cheerful self but causing division and getting Ryan is more important to me. I was done with my work for the afternoon so I knocked on her door. " come in" she called for inside, her voice gave off a hint of tiredness. she was on the computer when I worked in, as stern as it could ever be. " what's the matter?" she asked sparing me a glance as she looked off the screen " ahh.." I stammered as I internally tried to put my thoughts together, " I was thinking that since it's a Friday and there is no work tomorrow that maybe we could hang out a bit. I mean after work it's okay with you?" she raised a brow and opened a file, for a moment I thought she won't reply " Okay, I'll meet you after work just text me the address and time" I was silently squirming with excitement when she said " you can go now unless you have anything else you want to say?" I don't get it. it's like one moment she's all cool and the next she is acting tough, I don't want anything to ruin my plan so I leave the office with the hope that she won't change her mind. It was around five in the evening that I decided to text her the address and time we would meet. At first, I thought a bar would do but then she's not an outgoing person so I decided against it. A simple dinner would do it would help us bond a bit, I just want to get close enough for her to start confiding in me. " Sorry I'm late" she exclaimed as she took a sit and damn girls got one hell of a Wardrop. why does she always have to have all the good stuff? we were going through the menu when one of the waitresses approached our table to take the orders " do you want to order anything?" the waitress asked. we quickly made our orders and began conversing. I cleared my throat and asked " Did I ruin any plans or we're you free for the night?" " well, free would be an overstatement," she said as she took a sip from her tonic, I had ordered drinks when I arrived just to keep us busy while we waited for our meal " I mean one can never really be free if you get what I mean but yeah I was waiting for my friend to arrive. it's been a while since we saw each other so she decided to spend the weekend " I wasn't expecting this to be easy but this makes it even worse. " oh really? can I meet her? " I asked, this might not be as planned but it wouldn't hurt to get a bit of an incite of who she is outside of work and the people she associates herself with " aye, why not I'll arrange for us to meet so I can introduce you. I'm sure she will like you" " I hope she does," I said and finished my drinks "do you mind if we take a walk back? I want to relax my mind a bit" I took that route because I know it works in most cases " Sure we can, I could use a walk too I've had one hell of a week," she said rising from her sit " I don't mean to offend you but I have to ask, where do you live? " that sting hard but what did I expect? she is too busy to know such things. " I have an appointment tomorrow I hope you don't mind if we pass by the mole to get an outfit for it?" I don't know why but I suddenly feel the urge to question her about it and no matter how hard I tried not to prey, I found myself asking " and this appointment is it with a friend or....." " you would say so, we are not friends exactly I'm not sure," she says uncertainly. we've left the restaurant and headed to the mall just down the road, my place is not far from here just a few blocks away from the mall and she has a driver so I'm guessing maybe he'll pick her up. It took some time before she could decide what outfit she wanted, which made me wonder who she was meeting I mean she could just wear anything from her clothes. I was watching her actions closely and I have noticed a lot from the little time with her, she's a good woman and does not boast, she pays in cash rather than use her credit card which I wouldn't likely do if I even the tiniest bit of the money she does and she's even kind to the cashier I mean who does that? " Thanks for shopping with us I hope to see you again soon," one of the cashiers say " sure.." she replied. she is so kind it hurts to even think of the things I'm going to do to her once I have a choice. " where do we go next?" I asked not giving off a hint of tiredness or frustration " I think we can just go home now I'm a bit tired I need to rest" " Should I drop you off?" I asked as we stood to admire the dresses on the display mirror " yes I suppose, did you bring your car?" " well no but I live in the next block so we can just go by and I'll give you a ride" my phone rang inside my purse, I fetched it only to find that the caller was Ben. ' doesn't this man have anything better to do?' I thought to myself " won't you pick that" Jessie queried when I rejected the call " ah..no, It's just some guy that's been troubling me" I lied, I've always shown her the innocent vision of me I don't want her to know those other things " maybe you should hear him out you know what if he has something important to tell you?" " Okay then, I guess I'll call him later then" I replied not wanting to dwell on it any further. After a few more minutes we reached my apartment building and since she said she was tired I fetched out my key from my bag and unlocked my car " let me take you home now, it seems to me that you are exhausted you need to rest and you know maybe Ryan might come over" I Joked winking at her " I don't think so, we are not exactly on good terms at the moment," said Jessie in a small sad voice " I'm sure you two can work it out" I tried to reassure her " I hope so, I think...." she trailed off and I didn't want to push it any further and we've already arrived " Thanks for the ride Lucy and tonight too I hope we have one of these again" " sure, so friends then?" I stretched out my hand and she took it " friends," she said before she went inside and I took a deep breath and squirmed in excitement for my accomplishment, and drove back home. I was getting closer to my goal and I need to plan and also make sure that my foolish ex doesn't ruin my plans at all. I already told him to leave me alone, if he stands in way then I'll have to run him over
