TERMINOLOGY Travellers are most often confused by the mortal world as being Romany (and thus frequently given the exonym of Gypsies), but that is a misconception that in part owes its origins to the shared term “Traveller” as a descriptor for both groups. We shall henceforth refer to the mortal beings as “Romani” and “Rom” in order to avoid any confusion.
