By accident, she noticed the tablet on the floor, just over a few feet from her. So, she reached down to pick it up, when a series of gunshots stuck in the wall behind her, at head height. “We need her alive!” someone yelled from afar. Right then, she saw the sand beneath her snow boots again and, pushing aside her panic, she started to fumble on the tablet. She pushed the alarm button and typed a short message, sending it to Doc and Gus. With a little luck, at least one of them would have read it and come to help them. They could do it, right? If their enemies' team had more humans than vampires, they could still overwhelm them! As soon as she remembered that, from the house, Doc and Gina had heard the two explosions for sure, the illusion died, as did her hopes of being saved in time.
