Miraculously, Charlie was able to fall into a relatively easy, deep sleep. She had no dreams of Rezin or of world destruction or anything scary of the sort. However, she could not come up with an explanation as to why she awoke in the middle of the night. There was no sudden sound that made her bolt upright. It wasn’t as if she had just woken herself from one of those terrifying dreams. And she certainly couldn’t hear the noise of any of her family members’ downstairs. The first thing she did was pick up her phone from her nightstand and check the time. It was well past three in the morning. Groggy, she sat up in her bed and rubbed her tired eyes.
