Dorthy’s Anger

I look up and see the ugly angry face of Dorthy. Of course, it’s her man I wish they would change my room. She starts screaming and at first, I can’t even make out the words she is shrieking so loud.

YOU NASTY MUTT!!

HOW DARE YOU TRY AND REPORT ME!!!

Oh, I see they must have questioned her about my complaints.

THIS IS MY ROOM I WILL DO AS I PLEASE!!!

I’M IN CHARGE NOT SOME LOW-LIFE MUTT!!!

I’m sure you must be having some kind of nervous breakdown or something because I am sure you did not come to try to ruin my day off. You know what you stay and get some emotional support, I’m going to leave. I stand and pack my supplies to head to the library to study and finish my current assignment. She blocks the door in an attempt to stop me from leaving. I start to laugh asking if she’s crazy enough to be charged with kidnapping.

Her eyes lightened in color from their natural murky mud brown to a much lighter color and this time I saw it as she shoved past me. Not waiting to watch her head explode I head to the library. I stop at the corner stand and grab a coffee and snacks since I rushed out leaving my fresh cup of coffee. Man I hate wasting coffee, good thing I use a non-dairy powdered creamer I will warm it when I get back.

I make it to a booth at the library and spread my material to begin my assignments. After two studious hours I had done both of my English assignments, so I grabbed lunch. Since I’m trying to penny pinch I head reluctantly back to my dorm. My gut said I shouldn’t but my brain said I could not afford to keep eating out. Walking through the hall almost to my door and my phone rings. Looking down I see my dad calling and smiling knowing that he’s calling to remind me about my party on Sunday.

Hi Dad

Hi sweetie how’s your day been?

You know me, I like to get ahead on my assignments so I have been working in the library.

I hope they haven’t piled the work on too hard already, my dad says with a sigh.

No Dad they are allowing us to work ahead so after completing my first two assignments I started to finish Thursday’s work also. I am not sure what assignments my two classes on Monday will give so I am just being prepared.

I doubt that you will have many actual written assignments for your gym class. I still do not understand why you are taking gym when it is not required. I can hear the annoyance in his voice because he thinks working out as I enjoy is for guys.

Dad, I am sure that my calculus class will give me more than enough work. I am taking gym as an elective so it’s an easy class so I am not overwhelmed in my first semester.

I’m just saying bug that there were different classes you could have taken like music or art appreciation.

I huff dad I’m almost back to my dorm and I need to eat so I’m gonna get off the phone, okay?

Okay, hun I just wanted to remind you to be here early Sunday afternoon.

Oh yeah, dad speaking of that umm so I invited Va-Lara to come.

Oh really? She seems like a nice girl and I am glad, but I am not sure your mother will like a last-minute guest.

I laugh knowing he’s right but Dad it’s my 18th birthday. I‘m not a baby, I should have my friends over for my birthday party, not mom’s stuffy business partners.

You’re right love, I will smooth it over for you.

After hanging up the phone I walked into my room and could not believe my own eyes. The entire room was trashed, everything inside was knocked over and torn. My bed was in ruins because on my comforter in spray paint were the words “MUTT!!” in red. I knew it was Dorthy so I walked right to security and guess who was there? Dorthy sobbing about how someone broke into our room and vandalized it. Oh wow, this girl was good, making the first report would make her look innocent. I just knew this psycho trashed our room and now was playing the victim.

When she sees me she gives me this evil triumphant smile. The security officer checked out our room took photos and made the report. He informed us he would check the security cameras on our floor. Shock and fear crossed Dorthy’s face upon hearing about the cameras. She must have forgotten about those in her rage. Now it was me giving her a triumphant smirk. I just hope that this will finally be the end of her crazy antics, if she gets caught they will have to move my room.

She plastered a fake smile on her face thanked the officer and left with him. Goodness, I sure hope she doesn’t come back anytime soon. Thankfully the food items I had just purchased were mostly good. Stripping my bed to take it to the laundry room praying I can get the paint out before it drys. I walk down the hall to our floor’s laundry room and start my load. As I return to my room to finish cleaning and finally eat I am famished. My stomach growls loudly, I can’t believe that I have been so hungry.

I deserve a big juicy burger for the B.S. I have had to deal with today. I had one hour and twenty-five minutes till I needed to change my laundry over so I headed to the diner. I don’t see Va-Lara but the waitress I got was super sweet and quick. I ordered an extra large bacon burger with onion rings and an orange cream shake. Took me a good twenty minutes to finish my food and I started to head back to the dorm. The door chimes and lo and behold who walks inside? Alex, and he is with several other guys.

My jaw drops because this is just my luck to run into him when he’s dating Dorthy. I can’t explain why I feel so hot and bothered by him each time I see him. I have never been attracted to anyone before, I honestly thought I was just way too focused on my path in life to worry about dumb guys. Then I meet him and he does things to me, that I have never experienced before but he’s not mine. I need to keep chanting that in my head even though it makes me sick. I need to find a way to avoid him at all costs, the last thing I needed was to give Dorthy another reason to be crazy.
