If looks could kill man oh man, I would be dead. She just shrugged her shoulders and continued watching the loud-ass anime. I have never shared a room with anyone in my life. I get landed with an obnoxious one right off the bat. I start unpacking my boxes and making my bed since it’s way too loud to sleep. At least there is a noise curfew at ten pm so I can sleep then. My Dad sent a text a few hours later telling me they had arrived safely.
I had just finished unpacking while Dorthy was still watching something screaming in a foreign language. I opted to order pizza since I was so exhausted. I decided to take another chance and offer Dorthy the option of getting pizza with me but again a disgusted look and immediately ignored it. Well, we are definitely off to a great start, I do not understand who hates a person they have never met. After my pizza arrived, I ate and left to find the library.
There was only so much screaming I could take and I needed to get my student ID anyway. The walk around the campus was quiet since it was late afternoon. I make it with just enough time to grab my ID and check out my first two reading assignments for English 111. I wanted a jump a jump start on my first class. English was never my strongest subject. To say I was nervous was an understatement of a year.
Since I had tomorrow off before classes start on Thursday, I would make my way to get some additional material tomorrow. Right now all I could think about was sleep. The relief of the empty room once I got inside was palpable. Not even bothering to undress, I just laid down. Fast asleep in minutes and the dream calls to me. She’s calling again so desperately, almost sounds like she is calling directly to me. I don’t understand why since it isn’t my name being called.
I see her eyes so bright but I feel stuck. My feet won’t move even though I want to go forward. Suddenly she’s speaking to me, in a language I haven’t heard before but I understand never less. I have waited many years to finally meet you again. We don’t have long I’m not strong enough yet. Suddenly jerked out of my dream to the screaming of Dorthy’s TV again. Looking at the bedside clock seeing it’s 11:45 pm. I am pissed, so very pissed that I could punch her right in the face.
This is supposed to be our quiet time, yet here she is waking me up. I get up and go to the shared bathroom to wash up and change. Stepping back into the room I asked Dorthy if she could wear headphones or turn down her entertainment so that I could sleep but again she ignored me. Getting angry I remind her of the noise curfew almost two hours ago. She gives me another death glare but turns it down. Damn, I’m starting to think she’s mute, this girl doesn’t speak.
Heading back to bed praying I can finish my dream. No luck, I fall back to sleep but the dream never starts back. The next morning I woke up feeling so disappointed, the dream never came back. I can’t shake the feeling that I need to finish this dream. I am scheduled for another campus tour with Va-Lara, and then we will be heading to the diner to talk with the manager about my new job. That’s right we will be working together if I get the job, so at least know one person.
She has a magnetic personality it’s hard to not enjoy her company. As we walk around campus talking about my schedule, she shows me the quickest way to each of my classes and helps show me the best break/study areas. On the way to the dinner for my impromptu interview talked about my work experience back home. I told her about all my part-time jobs and her jaw dropped questioning why I had worked so much. Smiling I tell her that I enjoyed working and having my income.
I had managed to have a nice savings account plus my jeep is fully paid off. We arrived at the diner and I had a seat waiting on the manager. The interview took about five minutes, so quickly I thought it was a fake. I was told I could start on Saturday, seems they needed an extra person. They have a uniform policy and I can pick mine up on Friday after my classes. On the way back to my dorm me and Va-Lara talked about my roommate’s issues.
She made a weird face and suggested I speak with my student advisor. Me and Va-Lara head inside my room and thankfully no Dorthy but Va-Lara’s face scrunches up like she smells something rotten. I laughed because I thought it was due to her side of the room looking like a pig pen. She looked apologetic and just told me she wasn’t feeling well and needed to leave. I thank her for all her help and she leaves. I finish off my pizza for dinner and start packing my things for my mid-morning class.
I leave to take a shower and get ready for bed. When I step back into my room Dorthy is back looking like I killed her dog. Screaming like a banshee about the smell in our room. I facepalm, what does she expect when her side looks like a hobo palace? I take one out of my books shrug and lay down. She didn’t like that and proceeded to tell me we were never allowed visitors in our room. I am appalled that she believes she makes these rules and I will just blindly follow her.
Unfortunately for her, I am no follower and tell her that I intend to follow the dorm rules and that rule isn’t one that’s listed. She stares at me dead in the eyes and I swear her eyes turn lighten in color but it’s too dark on her side to tell for sure. Screaming We will see at the top of her lungs.
