At that, the women left and went to where Felicia and her parents used to live. Before they entered, Lissa reminded her, “Remember, you’re not alone, we are right here with you.” Felicia nodded.
She knew this was going to be hard. But she wanted some things from home, to take a piece of her parents with her. Keeping her color scheme in mind, she said, “Ok, I think I’m ready. How are they going to know what to take and what to leave?”
Lissa smiled and said, “I brought labels, and we can label the stuff that we want to go with the word ‘go’ sound like a plan?”
Felicia smiled and said, “Yeah.” They went in and started in the living room picking out things. One thing she wanted was the TV, DVD player, and movies that she and her parents used to watch together. So, they labeled things in the living room. Joy was making a list to hang on the door of the rooms where there were labels. Next, they moved into the office to see if there was a desk she specifically wanted, like maybe her father’s desk. Joy suggested it because she could use it as she grew as well. Felicia thought about it for a second and asked, “Will it fit?” Well, that room used to hold Uncle Mick’s desk, so it should we might have to put it against a wall and arrange things a little differently, but we can make it fit. We will even get you your own chair to match your room, ok?” Felicia nodded excitedly. That’s all she wanted out of this room. She chose her mother’s bookcase for her books, which was a corner style and would fit perfectly. She moved on, picking out a few books that they stacked on a nearby table, which Lissa promptly labeled, and Joy added to the list detailing where they were and which room they were in. They walked around her parents’ room as she looked around. There wasn’t much she could see that she would want, except a few pictures and some trinkets that reminded her of her parents and some of the things they did together. Joy found a box that they started filling with little things. Lastly, they went to her room. She looked at her bed and said, I want my bed. But I think I want new sheets and stuff to match my new room.” So, they stripped the bed.
Joy asked, “Do you want new pillows or these? Felicia flopped down on the bed, putting her head on her pillows, instantly feeling more at peace.” She sat up and nodded. So, they labeled the pillows, too. They put all her bathroom stuff in the box, went to her personal bookshelf, and she picked out more books to take with her. Next was her closet. She looked at the women following her around. And said, “I want all my clothes and shoes. We don’t have to worry about towels because they don’t match my new room.”
“Is there anything else, Felicia? What about your mom’s jewelry? We can put it in the desk to save till you're old enough to use it.” Suggested Lissa. Felicia hadn’t thought of that and nodded. So, Lissa went back with the box, found the jewelry, and put it inside. While Joy and Felicia continued through her room and bathroom. Felicia picked out her favorite toys, a few stuffed animals that she had to have. Once she thought they were done, they went through again, double-checking anything she may have missed. There were a few small things like family pictures, but there wasn’t much. Plus, she didn’t see anything in the kitchen that she wanted. Same with the living room. She couldn’t take any of the big furniture. But she did label her bean bag chair. As she thought that would be a comfy spot to read in. Even though it didn’t match.
That’s when Joy spoke up and said, “We My name is Goldenrod. Though most people call me Goldie.”
“Ok Goldie.” Felicia said shyly.
Then to Felicia’s surprise everyone near her started to introduce themselves. Felicia smiled and said, “You all might have to help me remember your names one or two times. But I’ll get it.”
get a cover for it, and you can pick it out.” That put a smile on Felicia’s face. They taped the list to the door, and Mind linked Ben and Mick, letting them know that the old house was labeled and there was a list on the door.
Ben chuckled and said to Mick, “Of course, she labeled everything! It’s what she does!”
Mick also laughed and said, “My Joy loves her lists.” They both laughed, shaking their heads in the process. They left three of the men to paint the walls that needed the pale purple, first sending pictures of a lavender color and a lilac color. Felicia chose the lilac for the bedroom and lavender for the bathroom, just so there was a slight difference. The men got to painting. Turned out they only needed three of them to paint. While the rest took a few pickup trucks and started to break down the furniture they could and loaded the rest. When they got to the desk, they looked at each other, and Mick said, “That’s one heavy desk we’re going to need everyone, I think, to lift it out of here. Plus, I don’t remember how we got it in.” as he scratched his head trying to remember.
Meanwhile, the girls decided to head to the local store in Forestville to see if they could find what they needed. Joy had made them a list. Creamy gold or just gold, whichever they could find that she liked for the bathroom accessories, lavender towels, lilac sheets, quilt, and pillowcases that matched the carpet to tie it all together. They also needed a desk chair, bean bag cover, or fabric to have one of the omegas that was amazing at sewing to sew one for her. Joy wanted to get her some new dresses as a welcome home gift, and Lissa got her some hair things. They also found a vanity that would be perfect for her hair stuff and other personal items that weren’t going in the bathroom. They had the furniture delivered but were able to put the rest in the vehicle. They decided to go back and see how things were going and start organizing things, so they knew if they were missing anything. When Lissa suddenly exclaimed, “We didn’t get tables to go by your bed!’
Joy then reminded her that they didn’t know if they were going to need one or two. So, they went back.
What they found was a troop of men moving things in. The women just stood there, open-mouthed, surprised there was that much stuff. As they didn’t think there was so much. When the last man had gone up the stairs with a bookcase, they followed him. First was the desk, seeing as how that was one of the largest items and needed to be placed first before the bed, which was the next big thing. Felicia saw the window and asked, “Can the desk go in front of the window so that I can look out while I do homework and other things?”
Mick responded, “That is a great idea, my dear. I had a feeling that was going to happen; your mom loved the outdoors, too.” So, they centered the desk in front of the window, which had a creamy gold color on the wall. Next was the bed; four men stood shoulder to shoulder to imitate the bed so that they could find the proper placement. Originally, they tried centered and straight out into the room on the lilac wall, but it was a tad too close to the desk. So, they shifted the bed a little more off center, still having it just out into the room. The other men stood in for various pieces of furniture so they could get a visual. Felicia decided that she wanted the bookshelf to back up to the desk and face the corner, and her bean bag made it into a little reading nook. Which meant she needed a floor lamp. Joy started a new list. So that man sat down on the floor, signifying that part was decided on. There was also a vanity, and a TV that was going to need a small table under it, as they could mount the TV on the wall. Mick ran down to where the spare furniture was and found the perfect thing, a small bookcase that the DVD player could sit on top of, and the movies could sit on the shelves. The TV hung in the corner so that she could see it from the bean bag and her bed. And the bookshelf went underneath. The vanity had to go on the other side of the closet, which was perfect. So, in Joy’s new list of things to get, there were two bedside tables, a dresser to match the desk or vanity, three lamps, one tall and two short, and finally a toy box to go at the end of her bed. The three women took off, and the men got to work. Once the furniture had been moved in, two men put the bed together all the way up to mattresses so that all that was left was making it. One of the maids came and made the bed. Mick put the books on the shelf himself, curious as to which books she picked out. Just then, the vanity arrived in three pieces. Four men carried the pieces up and put them in their spots. Ben and Jonah mounted the tv and placed the bookshelf, DVD player, and movies all in one corner. Like her books, some were cartoons and Disney movies, but others weren’t. They noticed she had a wide range of interests. They left the boxes of knick-knacks and pictures to let her decide where she wanted them. Ben had a couple of maids come in and arrange the closet and shoes. After that, the men all went down to take a break till the ladies came back with their final purchases. They were able to get a bite to eat and water.
Just as they were all finishing up, Joy, Lissa, and Felicia came back. They carried in a darn thing. Mick lovingly said, “What? You couldn’t carry anything in??”
Joy laughed and responded, “No, dear, we left that for you. Didn’t want you to feel left out. We’re going to go check on the progress.” Ben just rolled his eyes and shook his head. The men got up and went out. There really wasn’t that much; it was just too heavy for them. In under an hour, the men had all the things upstairs. With the dresser at the back of the closet. It was a smallish walk-in closet. A maid came in and put the things that didn’t get hung in the dresser. Her mother’s jewelry box went on top of the dresser. Which turned out to be the perfect spot for it. The rest of the things that weren’t pictures were put away in their proper places. Once the tall lamp was ready it went into the reading nook. Both lamps went onto her bedside tables. It was then that she noticed she didn’t have a desk lamp. Mick ran out of the room and down to the new office. He noticed that there were three desk top lamps. He brought all three down to her room. Telling her to pick one.
She looked and she liked the glass one as there was a night light option inside the glass. Joy said, “good choice!” So, after Taking the lamp and placing it on the desk everything was plugged in. All that was left was emptying the boxes. The guys even helped and in no time it was all done. Felicia was happy with the way things in her room turned out.
A few days later they had the special ceremony for her parents. The whole pack showed up. Felicia knew she’d be in the spotlight again. So, she was anxious and panicky the day of the ceremony. Joy walked into her room to check on her. Noticing that Felicia had still not got dressed and was sitting at her vanity. Joy walked up behind her and put her hands on Felicia’s shoulders. Seeing the emotions running across her face and through her eyes. She squatted down and asked, “Felicia what’s wrong?”
Felicia turned and looked at her aunt, a little frustrated that her emotions that she had been trying to hide were out in the open. So, she told her the truth. “I’m feeling anxious, and I think I’m panicking. I know I’m going to be in the spotlight again. I don’t like being in the spotlight. Bad things happen when I am.”
Joy looked at her concerned. “Come here my dear.” With that she stood up, shut the door and took Felicia’s hand and led her to the bed, so they could sit comfortably to talk. “Felicia, you are not the reason bad things happen. Why would you think that?”
Felicia answered with teary eyes and said, “If I had not been the center of attention at the concert and asked for ice cream, they’d still be alive and Azella wouldn’t have left me either. Then when we got here that first night, again I was in the spotlight and all I got was looks of pity. Who wants anyone’s pity? Now I’m going to be in the spotlight Again and I’m going to get those same looks. What if I fall in the water putting my floating lights in? Everyone will laugh at me. Just like I get laughed at for my size. They’ll call me drowned rat! Or worse wolf less drowned rat!” she exclaimed and broke into racking sobs.
Joy, whose heart was breaking for her held her close and spoke. “Sweetheart. You couldn’t do anything about the crash. Your wolf didn’t leave you. She’s still inside, our wolves have a deeper connection to our parents and family. As well as our mates once we meet them. She did not abandon you and neither did your parents. They are with our goddess Seline. That first night we brought you all back home, no one was pitying you. They were sad, all of us were. They were especially sad for you. Being sad or feeling empathy that someone has lost someone close is different than being pitied. Pity is a surface emotion. Whereas empathy or sympathy is a much deeper emotion. That means they understand what you are going through. That they are sad too.” Felicia looked up and hiccupped tears still streaming down her face. Joy continued, “The looks you’ll get tonight will be looks of empathy and sympathy not pity. Everyone will be sad. You will be able to tell because we will ALL howl in pain at the loss of fellow wolves. Maybe Azella will come back to howl along with us. As far as falling in how about I help. I’ll hold one light while you put one in, then I’ll hand you the other light, and you can put that one in?”
Felicia thought about this for a minute then responded, “Ok Aunt Joy. I like that idea. Is there anything we can try to bring my wolf forward. We haven’t tried anything yet and you said we would. I want to howl too.”
Joy’s wolf came forward, “hello Felicia, I’m Joy’s wolf Aliza, I can sense your wolf, and she is hurting, just like you are. Let me help you.”
Felicia looked at her aunt wide eyed and just said, “Ok.”
Aliza continued, “Ok, close your eyes and hold our hands. Don’t worry Joy is still here. I’m going to use some of my power to help you. Now call by name in your mind. Take a deep breath then call her.”
Felicia held hands with Joy and Aliza, took a deep breath and slowly let it out calming her heart and mind. She then went in the darkness of her mind and called “Azella are you there? I know you’re hurting. But so am I. We can get through this together. Tonight, there will be a chance to howl and say goodbye. I’m told that they are with the goddess. They are safe and so are we. We are home, Azella. We live with Aunt Joy and her wolf Aliza, Uncle Mick and his wolf. There’s also Alpha Ben and Luna Lissa.” Felicia waited quietly to see if Azella would come back. “Remember what you told me during the crash? Well, it’s true. So, I’m going to tell you something. You will be ok. I promise. Together we are stronger, and I need you Azella…”
After waiting an eternity Felicia finally heard a voice, “I miss them, Felicia.” Which is all she heard.
“I miss them too. But we have people here who love us and will take care of us. They will help us learn what we need to know. How to be better. Who knows what we can achieve together. Please be with me today…”
“Felicia, I am here. I am sorry I left. I was just hurting.” informed Azella.
Felicia opened her eyes and looked at Aliza and Joy. With happiness shining in her eyes, she exclaimed “She’s back!”
Aliza smiled and said, “I’m glad I could help. I knew she wasn’t gone as I could faintly sense her. I helped so that she knew there was family here. That it was ok.”
Felicia smiled and said, “I told her the same thing. As those were the words she used on me just before the darkness came. She said you will be ok and then we were both gone.”
Joy came forward and said, “Oh honey.” And hugged her. After a moment she asked. “Are you ready to get dressed? I can help if you want or just stay for company. if you have any questions, I can try to answer those.”
“You can stay and help me if needed, and company would be nice.” Felicia smiled. “I do have a question though. When do I do my first shift? How do I find my mate?”
Joy chuckled and said, “You are not even 8 years old. You have time my love.”
I am almost eight! My birthday is…wait what month is this?”
“June 20th, dear.” Joy smiled.
“My birthday is in twelve days!” Felicia announced.
“Oh my, we will have to plan a fun day. What do you think?”
“Can I help?”
“Of course. Now what do you plan on wearing?
Felicia looked through her clothes trying to decide. What about red? My parents always liked red, I know I have this pretty red lace dress. My black one got ruined. In the crash.”
