That morning, I was walking into school like a celebrity… even though my shoe lace was loose and I almost died tripping on air.
Classic me.
I saw Subiksha near the classroom door, laughing with her friends. I swear her laugh sounded like someone dropped a metal bucket, but somehow it was still cute.
I decided to walk casually to her, like a hero entry.
Instead, I stepped on my own bag strap and did a tiny jump that looked like I was dancing to no music.
Smooth.
She stared at me like,
"Bro, are you okay or possessed?"
I pretended nothing happened.
“I’m totally fine. Just… testing gravity.”
She raised an eyebrow.
“Oh, gravity works. Congrats.”
I wanted to compliment her hair, but my brain betrayed me and I said, “So… nice head today.”
Her friends laughed.
She blinked at me, confused.
“Thanks… I guess my head appreciates it?”
I nodded seriously like I was conducting a scientific conversation.
And then the bell rang, saving me from further embarrassment.
While walking inside I whispered to myself:
> “Sometimes life doesn't need villains. Our own mouth is enough to ruin us.”
And yeah, that was the moment I realized —
Either I'm falling for her…
or I'm just falling everywhere in general.
After taking my seat, I tried to act normal… which obviously failed.
Our teacher walked in with that “I haven't slept since 1998” face and started talking about quadratic equations like they were magic spells.
Half the class died inside.
Subiksha sat right beside me.
Every time she moved her pen, I pretended I was copying notes, but actually I was just staring at the same line for 10 minutes.
My notebook probably thought I was broken.
And then… disaster.
Teacher: “Alright, who solved question number 5?”
Nobody raised their hand.
Suddenly the teacher looked at me.
“YOU. Stand up.”
I stood. My soul left my body.
Teacher: “Answer?”
Me: “Yes.”
Teacher: “Yes, what?”
Me: “…Yes… education.”
Class: explodes in laughter
I swear even the ceiling fan laughed at me.
From the front, Subiksha saw me standing like a i***t and tried so hard not to laugh, she looked like she was choking on air.
Great. Now I was not only dumb, I was also her entertainment.
Teacher sighed, told me to sit, and continued teaching like nothing happened…
But I was sitting there thinking about my life choices and also calculating if I could jump out of the window and land on grass safely.
Spoiler: window was on the 3rd floor. So I stayed.
During lunch break, I walked toward the canteen like I had confidence.
In reality, I just wanted peri peri chicken therapy.
When I sat down with my plate, Subiksha suddenly came and sat across from me.
My soul again tried to escape.
She smirked, “So… yes, education?”
I stared at my chicken, embarrassed.
“Look, I panicked. My brain went on vacation.”
She laughed — and trust me, that laugh could cure depression and cause embarrassment at the same time.
I pretended to eat calmly, but its so spicy that i almost died coughing.
She passed me her water bottle like I was her personal comedy show.
“Are you always like this?” she asked.
And I said the most honest thing ever:
> “Only on days when I wake up. So basically… everyday.”
She smiled — the genuine one this time.
And in that moment, I didn’t know if destiny was bringing us closer…
or if the universe just liked bullying me.
She smiled — the genuine one this time.
And in that moment, I didn’t know if destiny was bringing us closer…
or if the universe just liked bullying me.
After lunch we had sports period.
Look, I’m not Messi, okay?
I'm more like… Mess-y.
But confidence? Always high until reality slaps.
We were playing football.
I told myself, “Today I will impress her.”
Universe said, “Say less.”
Ball came toward me.
It was my moment.
My hero arc.
I kicked…
…air.
I missed the ball so hard even the grass judged me.
Momentum dragged my body forward and boom — face planted. Full dive. Olympic level.
Everyone laughed.
Even the wind sounded like it was laughing.
I stood up like, “Yeah… warm-up, guys, totally planned.”
Subiksha ran to me, trying not to laugh but failing miserably.
“You okay, Mr. Education?”
I brushed imaginary dust off like a wounded lion.
“I slipped. Ground is… too flat.”
She laughed even harder.
At this point, she probably saw me as a walking comedy reel.
Then she casually tied the lace on my shoe because apparently I can’t function like a normal human.
“Try not to fight gravity again,” she said.
“Gravity started it first,” I replied.
And she smiled — again.
Man, I swear I was collecting smiles like Pokemon cards.
The final bell rang.
We both walked toward the school gate, not talking much.
Just that comfortable silence where even footsteps feel like background music.
Just before stepping out, she checked her phone, then turned to me with that mischievous look.
“Oh, by the way… tomorrow morning. Don’t be late. Big announcement.”
“Announcement? About what?”
She shrugged.
“You’ll see. Try not to faint, okay?”
And she walked off with her friends.
I stood there like a stuck loading screen.
What announcement?
Why did she smile like that?
Is it good?
Bad?
Should I pray?
Or stretch?
Or both?
My brain: system overloaded
My heart: bro breathe
And just like that, day two ended —
normal outside,
chaos inside,
and tomorrow suddenly felt… important.
