The drive back to Ravencrest City was quieter than Aria expected.
She sat in the back seat of Damien’s black SUV, watching the snow-covered mountains slowly disappear in the distance. Hours later, the familiar skyline came into view, its towering buildings gleaming beneath the afternoon sun.
For the first time in days, she felt as though she was returning to the world she knew.
Lucas glanced into the rearview mirror.
“We’ll reach Blackwood Tower in ten minutes.”
Damien closed the file he had been reading and looked at Aria.
“Once we arrive, things will move quickly.”
She nodded.
“I figured as much.”
“The board meeting isn’t the only issue.”
“I know.”
She smiled faintly.
“Your company needs its CEO.”
