Lucy was awakened by the sound of yelling coming from downstairs. After trying unsuccessfully to coax herself back to sleep, she got out of bed and crept to the door. She peered out into the blackness that was the hallway, half expecting her brother to do the same; but there was no sign of Derrick. The sound of snoring floated from his doorway to hers alerting her to the fact that he was still fast asleep; of course, he was a heavy sleeper.
