“You’re home early,” remarked Matias, glancing down at his watch.
“Yeah we got rained out,” replied Brea.
She was exhausted, she had just finished dropping Lucy off and had headed straight home. The field trip had been cut short on account of the sudden rainstorm that had descended upon them, and Brea was perfectly happy spending what was left of the weekend in bed.
“I need to have a word with you,” declared her father, beckoning for her to join him in the sitting room.
It was a rare occurrence when their family used the sitting room. The majority of her interactions with her father took place either in his office or at the pack house; but tonight was different. He was leaning against the fireplace, nursing a glass of what she assumed to be scotch. Brea threw her bags on the floor and
