97 Long days under house arrest left her angry, disappointed, and dissatisfied. The attack on the beach had put the entire house under a pall of dark anticipation. This trip was not the beach vacation their locale might suggest. She came to a halt just inside her room. Daniel stood at the far end, his back to her. She knew he knew she was there by the tightening around his shoulders, though he didn’t turn to acknowledge her. This annoyed her. He was in her room.
