Daniel had his weapon trained on Hamal before the latter was entirely in the room.
“Gods, man!” That Hamal didn’t realize how close Daniel had come to shooting him made Daniel take a closer look at his roommate.
Hamal paced back and forth across the small space. Daniel could almost see the wheels in his head spinning. When his thoughts aligned, his face relaxed, and he finally turned to Daniel. “Desiree is across the hall.”
Daniel kept his face passive, while his insides shrieked in a combination of glee and terror. Having her so close might open the chance for him to take her out once and for all. So many problems would be solved, so many lives saved.
