Chapter Twenty-FourFull night had fallen when Davin burst from the mouth of the Crystal Cavern, nearly barreling into two armor-clad guards standing post. “Help!” he panted. “I need help!”
Both guards stared at him, sizing him up. These men were different from the ones he'd spoken to earlier, and he hoped they'd been informed about his presence and his purpose.
“What's happened?” the taller one said, his gravelly voiced laced with suspicion.
“It's Rahne,” Davin gasped. “He stepped on the Nexus. He's barely breathing. He needs a doctor!”
