Despite the bad light, she saw his face redden. “Sure.” They faced the door again, and Nyla counted. “One, two, three!” They smashed into the door, and it swung open with a rending of fabric. The tapestry that hid this door came free as they barreled into the room. Unable to dodge it, Nyla barely had time to shield her face before being hit by the heavy cloth, which bore her to the ground. She pitched forward, her body hitting stone with spine-rattling force. She tried to cry out, but the musty cloth prevented it. She thrashed out with her legs, barely aware that Davin, right next to her, also struggled to free himself from the tapestry's embrace.
