The Unexpected heir

Chapter 1

As I was running down the cold and lonely streets of las Vegas, my breath almost running out, some men in black hoodies and masks were chasing me, I was almost giving up, the fear of death enveloped me, I tried to run as my legs could carry m, but they chased me more

Loosing strength, I fell down and they caught up with me

"What do u want from me" I cried pleading to be spared but it all fell on deaf ears they tortured me, I couldn't cry for help because it was in the night.... I begged and begged until I gave up, everything became blurry and like that everything went black

"Cut"! "That's a wrap for today everyone", Director Philip said and turned to me "you did so well Corey". "Thanks director" I said pulling out my costumes, my manager took me to change into my normal wear, after that I felt so free and relaxed finally I have finished my role in director Philip's movie... But as soon as I came out lots of fans all gathered around me to get updates on the movie, but I wasn't prepared for the spotlight so my bodyguards made way for me to get into the car "urgh, guess am not free anymore"

Corey:

As I was having the most loving dream of my life I woke up hearing loud bangs on the door, I stood up and sat on my bed my hair all messed up I wore my sliippers while stretching and went to check who was at the door .

"Who is it!" I asked but all I heard was more banging, then I opened the door only to see my best friend Alex since the eight grade in middle school looking furious

"What's the matter Alex", "You don't seem really happy today" I said trying to figure out why his mood changed and he just walked passed me into the house without saying a word I just closed the door and still questioned him and then he looked at me with a more furious look.

"Come on spill it out"..., I said

"Why didn't u tell me u got into a movie?" Alex said

*OMG", I gasped, I...I wanted to but I was so tired yesterday" I said in defiance

"Seriously, what happened to not acting for just a moment, Corey we are in our final year, we have to study, besides you got all the money to keep yourself throughout out that time" Alex said

" I know Alex but it's not about the money , this is my first manager's movie and I have always wanted to star in his movie, this is my last opportunity to prove my loyalty to him" I said again in defiance and he sighed

"Whatever I just want us to graduate " Alex said

"Don't worry Alex together we will do just that, okay " I said knowing that Alex just want the best for me

"So how are u warming up for the company ".. Alex asked

"Well a little but that's not a big deal as soon as I graduate aunty will tutor me and am also studying about that so that will all be easy for me".. i said

"Okay" Alex said and paused for a while, "what's that smell".. he said looking irritated

"That will be me I haven't had my bathe " I said realizing myself

"Go freshen up i will make noodles for breakfast " Alex said and went to the kitchen

"Yayyyy thanks Alex, you are the best" I replied

After some few months, my final exams came and thanks to Alex I aced my scores... Finally I am done with college, Alex also aced his scores too and we were both happy, we went to a restaurant to celebrate and of course I was noticed again but this time I didn't mind, I signed autographs, posed for pictures and did so many things for my fans, I was so happy with my self and so was Alex, the day ended and I headed home because, tomorrow is actually a big day for me, that's when I start working as the new CEO of my father's company

Alarm rings, Corey sluggishly stood up from the bed to turn off the alarm

"Oh my goodness"! She shouted

"I'm late", Corey said and rushed to tidy herself up, she wore a crisp white shirt and red tweed vest and a matching skirt giving CEO energy she quickly made a quick breakfast and rushed out to the car, all this was happening because her sister went on a trip. Her car ride was a mess lipstick on one hand and phone in the other. Her new agent calling

"Corey, where are you? The board is waiting"

"Am on my way" Corey answered, she looked at her phone and saw another text from her sister

"Be professional, they will test you" she replied

"Okay sis" and dropped the phone to finish up her makeup.

She pulled into a long gigantic building Benson corp 47 floors of glass she hasn't been there for years

She walked in and the security looked at her and said

"Miss, who are you looking for"

" I'm the new CEO" she said. Her voice cracked but lovely

The guard blinked "... right this way Miss Benson, he said directing her to the elevator

The elevator was too quiet 12 people in suits already inside no one looked at her

Ding 47th floor

The boardroom door opened

12 men and 1 woman and Damian Vance already sitting at the head of the table

Damian Vance, her cold rival whom she has heard of was sitting in the board room. she admired his beauty, body and everything about him but all that went away when he spoke.

"Miss Benson", he said calm, cold.

"You're 18 minutes late".

Corey's face went hot, she didn't expect this from a hot hearthrub she almost voiced out what she had in her mind but she swallowed it

"And u are rude"

The whole room froze.

Damian just smirked and said

"welcome to the fire, Miss Benson"

and she went to her seat

Corey set her bag down inside: script pages, lipgloss and a granola bar, not exactly CEO material, more like an actress

she put her hand under the table and twisted her dad's ring

"Hi" she said. It came out small, she cleared her throat and spoke louder this time

"I'm Corey Benson and I know I'm 18, I know I'm an actress but this is my dad's company and am not going to let it fail

Silence

Damian leaned back in the chair at the other head of the table

Grey eyes on her

"Miss Benson can you read a balance sheet", he asked not mocking just directly

Corey's face burned but she let out a tiny smile,

"Not yet. But I learn fast"

A murmur went around the table not laughter neither was it a dismissal

One of the CFO, slid a folder towards her

"Then we start today" she said" Q3 losses. 2 million a month, your father didn't hide it, he just ran out of time to fix it "

Damian didn't smile, but he didn't tear her apart either

"Alright " he said" you have 30 days show us a plan to stop the bleeding. If u can't, we vote in an interim CEO. If you can... You keep the chair. He said brutal but fair

Corey nodded. Her hands were still shaking under the table

"30 days" she said" Deal"
