Mia's POV

As I arrived at my office I felt a headache

Was that really Nic?

I searched for the files of the new officers in my precinct from the pile of folders in the top of my folders

Here it is, okay relax. It can't be Nic right? He just looks like him! Trying to convince myself

Damn Nic!

I can't help but anger rose from my chest.

He was my first love, first date, first dance, first kiss, and first heartbreak. He betrayed me. Cheated on me!

I opened my drawer and opened a box, we'll it's still here. The promise ring he gave me on my 16th birthday, 7 years ago. I don't know why I still keep it.

I smiled bitterly,

He was my world, my happiness, my everything but now he's my demon.

I first met him back when were in grade school. We were classmates. He transferred to our school when we're in grade 3. I saw him kind of looking lost and lonely at the playground and I approached him

"Hi! I'm Mia! Do you want a sandwich?" while offering him a half of my sandwich

He looked up at me, stared then I smiled at him.

He then took the sandwich

"What's your name?" I asked

"Nic," he answered briefly

"I'm going to be your friend from now on!" I said cheerfully because I feel kind of sorry for him. He looked sad and lost

At last he looked up at me then said "OK"

From then on we were inseparable.

Later that day I even learned we're neighbours! They're the once transferring to the house across our house!

We live in a villa, our compound is highly secured because most of the people residing there are top notch! Businessmen, high ranking officials, politicians and those richest of the rich.

Every day Nic and I play either in our house or in their house. Nic's parents are always busy running their family business the Guildford and Co. It's a food business and hotel business. They own the top hotels and restaurants all over the world. He's also the last child.

Since both our parents are always not around we even go to school together either in our car or theirs.

He was silent and shy but he always saves me and protects me. When it's raining he will always hold an umbrella over me. When I trip and scratch my knees he always wipes my tears and kisses my wound. He's just a boy but he was so sweet.

One day during on our fifth grade on our way home. We were aboard their car this time. When I was about to get off the car he suddenly held my hand and pulled me and hugged me tight then kissed my cheek and told me

"Starting today and forever, I'm your boyfriend"

A knock suddenly knocked me back to reality

As I looked up, it's Xyan! With a big smile and flowers in one hand and a cake on the other

"Happy birthday princess," he smiled

I was stunned, damn! I really missed this guy

"I know I'm handsome, stop staring and help me with this cake" he told me jokingly

I stood up and helped him with the flowers and the cake them hugged him.

As I hugged him I saw Nic passed by my door and saw his face turned red

Was that anger? Jealousy?

I looked a away and led Xyan to my sitting area

"I didn't expect you'd come all the way here!" I exclaimed

"Well, we needed a vacation and I want you to meet someone," he told me excitedly

Wait, we? He said we right?

Xyan went out my office and came in with Bella G.

Whoah! Bella G. is an international supermodel! I know her since she's one of my brother's ex girlfriends.

I can hear my heart breaking.. Oh no..

Bella looked at me with contempt and seems to be jealous?

I forced myself to smile.

"Hi Bella," I greeted cheerfully, masking the hurt inside of me

"Do you want tea? Coffee? Soda?" I offered them

" Just water for me," Bella said " unlike you I'm watching my figure" while looking at met mockingly

Wait! I know I'm not fat! But I'm not supermodel slim. I have the curves in the right places. This b***h!

Xyan seemed to sense the tension

"No Mia, thanks, we'll be get going or we'll miss our reservation" he stood and hugged me one more time

I saw anger flash accross Bella's face and I smirked at her.

As if I don't know the devil behind that angelic face.

Xyan and Bella left and I felt as if I'm drained already. It's not even noon.
