16th birthday

Nic's POV

I'm so excited! I took out a diamond ring from my pocket. It's actually a promise ring but for me it's an engagement ring. She's the only girl for me. The one I want to spend the rest of my life with. I maybe young but I can feel it.

It's my gift for Mia tomorrow, I'll be travelling later to Zinuan City for her birthday tomorrow

My dad came in

"Nic," he looked so sad and hugged me tightly.

Then I felt tears coming from his eyes. He let go of me and gave me an envelope

"Is that?" I asked

He nodded

I smiled bitterly

Mia's POV

It's my 16th birthday! And Nic's coming!

I heard a car then looked out my window, it's Nic!

I ran down the stairs to meet him.

When I saw him, he looked pale and thinner than before

I ran towards him and hugged him tight

"Are you okay? You look sick," I asked him

He smiled "Can I talk to you in the garden? I want to give you something"

We walked silently hand and hand towards the garden.

I'm nervous and I don't know why

When we arrived at the gardens we sat down a bench facing a man made lake. It's our favourite spot since we're kids.

Slowly he pulled a ring from his pocket, he held my hand. I'm still in shock.

He slowly slide the ring in my finger " I promise to love you, to be there with you always specially when you need me, whatever happens never forget that I loved you, I love you, and I'll always love you". He slowly leaned in and kisses my lips

It was our first kiss. My heart's about to burst of happiness.

But like they say after summer there's winter.

A week after my birthday he started to get cold, no texts no calls, he even ignores my calls until week becomes month, then turned into years.. I still loved him.

Even during my 2nd year in the academy I still hoped he'll show himself until one day while I was scrolling f*******: I saw his profile. He even did not add me! And saw his profile picture hugging a girl. I read the comments and it's all saying congratulations. Wow!

I did not know what to feel, I changed to my athletics and started running around the camp. I went to the hill inside the camp to cry myself out.

That's when Xyan and I became really close. He saw me crying and comforted me. Weeks passed and he never left my side. He would give me notes with jokes on it. Gave mi advices, hugged me when I cried. He even gave me chocolates and did everything to make me laugh even of it caused him demerits and punishments. That's when I started falling in love for him..

But then here comes Bella. Ugh just thinking about these things made my head aches more. I asked for another shot and drank it straight.

Yep, happy birthday to me
