Chapter Eighteen
The hood of the old Nova blew back and a huge cloud of black oily smoke rose above the street. The hood was flung with such force that one of the hinges broke and the lid smashed through the windshield. Glass shattered and flew across the pavement. It sounded like a car wreck. Flames quickly spread along the greasy frame under the car. The gas in the tank began to boil.
