I adjusted my collar for the last time in front of my mirror, taking another deep breath to calm my racing heart. At least I looked normal today, whether I felt normal was another story entirely.
Suddenly, the bathroom door opened, and Zephyra stepped out, humming as she towel-dried her hair.
She stopped abruptly when she noticed me. "Huh."
"What?"I raised an eyebrow.
She walked around me, examining me from every angle. "You look... different today."
"Different how?" I asked, my brow furrowed.
"I don't know," she said, tapping her chin thoughtfully. "You just do."
I laughed out loud before I could stop it. "Come on, we'll be late."
Thirty minutes later, Zephyra and I exited the dormitory, joining the crowd of students as we crossed the manicured lawns of Hawthorne University.
