Roman

1050 Words
Roman hadn’t actually been invited to this summit. He had only been brought along because his father had demanded it.  If his father had any type of a heart Roman would have suspected he needed him for moral support. But Christopher wasn’t like that. He only wanted to show off his son and heir, since he thought that was some kind of display of power.  And he wanted to keep Roman away from Chrissy. He sighed happily when he thought about Chrissy. Even when they were separated he could picture her. She was just so pretty and perfect and he was happy that she was his mate. His only problem with the situation (other than his dad) was that his wolf was being stubborn. He had no idea what Sam’s problem was but he was always silent around Chrissy. Roman was starting to get frustrated because he really wanted their wolves to meet. He waited until his father was getting ready to meet with the council and other alphas.  Having to answer in front of them had him in a bad mood and Roman didn’t want to push it by asking to leave. He also knew he was just going to be angrier when he got back, and Roman wanted to find somewhere else to be. He waited until his father had gone into the bathroom to take a shower before he slipped out of the room.  As soon as he was away from his father he felt relieved. Being around Christopher was one of the most soul crushing things a person could do, and Roman was expected to do it all the time. They might have been family but his father was just so stressful.  He wished that the future of the pack didn’t rest on his shoulder. If he had a brother he could have ran away with Chrissy and had a good life away from his dad.  He knew that some members of the pack were hoping he would challenge his father. If he was able to defeat Christopher he could become the alpha. The only other way would be if Christopher had willingly stepped down and allowed him to be the Alpha.  Roman knew that his father would never step down. Christopher loved power too much and he was still trying to take over other packs. That definitely wasn’t the sign of a man who was getting ready to retire. Christopher was becoming more  ambitious and angrier that his ambitions weren’t being reached. Roman knew it was going to get worse before it got better and it was secretly hoping that this father would be dealt with by someone else, just so he didn’t have to make a hard choice.  And if knowing he couldn’t beat him battle wasn’t enough Christopher was his dad. He was insufferable most of the time and drove Roman insane, but he was still his father. A son killing his father would be the ultimate betrayal. Roman could be a bastard at times, but he didn’t have it in him to fight and murder his father. There was always going to be a chance that it was going to come down to a fight. If he had to guess the fight was going to be about Chrissy. He knew he was in love with her. She was so sweet and kind and nothing like anything he knew before. He found it hard to believe she had been born into his pack, but it also gave him hope. She would be Luna one day and he prayed that it meant that under him his pack could be less violent and more cooperative. Maybe they could find a place in the world that didn’t mean they had to fight all the time. He really wished Sam would have something to say about this. Normally, his wolf had way too much to share. However, whenever he brought Chrissy he was met with silence. In his pack they didn’t talk about the romantic aspect of mates. All he knew was when you found your mate it was your other half. Being complete helped you reach you full potential. He knew his wolf was supposed to be excited about his other half. Even if he wasn’t in touch with his soft and fuzzy side, he thought he would be pleased to find the one who would help him reach his peak. He wished that he had a family member, or even just someone in the pack he could talk to about this. But his mother would tell him to ask his father and his father would just yell. If he asked  a member of the pack they might tell his parents and than he would get in trouble for showing weakness. He knew the council hadn’t invited him here so maybe he could use this opportunity to try and do some research on his own. This was where the leaders of the leaders stayed. If there were answers anywhere they would be here.  He knew his father wouldn't approve but Roman didn’t care. Christopher was going to be busy so he probably wouldn’t notice what his son was doing and what he didn’t know wouldn’t hurt him. Roman stopped a person who was passing by and asked for directions to the library. He figured it was a good place to start. If he couldn’t find his answers in a book then he would start asking people. The directions were easy enough to follow. It was pretty much a straight shot through the hallway and Roman was used to wandering through old twisted forests. He didn’t really have to think as he walked so he allowed his thoughts to wander. That was until he was hit with something he hadn’t been expecting. While he was walking he was hit with a strong scent. It was strong but it wasn’t bad. In fact it was the best scent he had ever smelled. He took in another deep breath and realized it was lilacs with a hint of vanilla, and a very little bit of citrus. It was sweet and fresh at the same time. He instantly thought that this is what heaven would smell like. He took in more breath and finally Sam spoke up.  “Mate.”
