Cecily didn’t like that she was separated from her mom and Robert. She felt like a sad little girl even thinking that, but she didn’t care. She was going through a lot and she wanted people she loved with her. But as soon as they had gotten out of the car they were separated. The staff had told them they had busy days ahead and quickly led them to their rooms. When Cecily saw her room her heart dropped. The room was so large and luxurious it could only be for an alpha. All the signs were pointing to her taking over the Silverpaw pack, even though it wasn’t something she wanted at all.
But she also knew that if they decided that she had to take it there would be nothing she could do about it. Besides, she couldn’t just leave the pack in the hands of Christopher Gibson. She might not have ever planned or wanted to be the alpha but they were still her pack and her family. She couldn’t just let the man who killed her father and brothers have them.
She opened her suitcase and slowly started unpacking her things. According to the agenda she had been given she had a meeting with just the council that day. She sighed as she unpacked, it really looked like they weren’t wasting any time. That was unexpected and she could feel butterflies flapping their wings in her stomach whenever she thought about it. Once she was unpacked she had nothing else she could do to distract herself so she decided to just get ready. She needed to do it. She had just been avoiding it because she felt like that it would make it more real.
But making them wait wouldn’t help anything. So with a heavy heart she pulled out a change of clothes and her shower supplies. She was hoping that if she was clean, fresh and well dressed she would look confident, even if she wasn’t feeling it.
It took her an hour but CiCi was as ready as she was going to get. Her pale blonde hair was freshly washed and blow-dried. In an attempt to feel and look more professional she had it pulled back into a bun at the nape of her neck, except for a few pieces of hair in the front that refused to join the others. Her brown eyes were lightly lined, and she had skipped mascara in case she cried. She was wearing a gray pencil skirt and a green blouse and she put her feet into a pair of low gray heels.
It was as good as it was going to get.
"Oh come on Cici. You look great. You look like an alpha." Cici rolled her eyes. Her wolf, Nora had always been more forceful then her, and ever since the attacks she had been louder and pushier then ever. "And I saw that. Stop judging me. It's your birthright and you have to take it." Cici knew there was no point in arguing with Nora so she wasn't going to try. She was just going to get this meeting over with. Once she heard what the council had to say, she would figure out what she had to do next.
CiCi was startled when she opened the door and saw a very burly man waiting for her. She gasped a little and took a step back. The man sensed her hesitation and offered him a hand to shake. “I am Nathan. The council sent me to escort you to the meeting.
She nodded and took his hand and shook it. “Of course. I am Cecily Swift. You just took me by surprise.” Even if he shouldn't have. It should have been obvious that there would be escorts. They had all kinds of sensitive information there. They wouldn’t want people just wandering around looking at it. Plus tensions were high right now. It wouldn’t be safe to have people wandering around the compound alone. She was positive that Nathan was there to protect her, as well as make sure she didn’t cause any new problems.
“So,” CiCi said as she stepped out of the room and shut the door. “I take it they are ready for me.”
“Yes. They are.” Nathan said, gesturing for her to follow him. CiCi nodded and followed. Some people might have found the silence uncomfortable, but she didn’t want to talk. She didn’t really think she had anything more to say. She just needed to go and receive her fate.
