The ride over to the nightclub was quiet. Lacey seemed preoccupied as she stared out the window, lost in her thoughts. Jack glanced at her a few times but decided not to disturb her, sensing her wistful mood. As he slowed to turn into the packed parking lot, Jack navigated around to park with the other employees, noting the presence of four other cars. He couldn't help but imagine how challenging the past week must have been with three people missing from the schedule.
