ONE MONTH LATER
Killian’s POV
A full month has passed since we put Callie in the coma and every day since then I have been in this room with her. I only ever left to wash, eat and run.
I just got back into Callie’s room when I noticed something seemed different about the room. I look at the bed, where Callie laid and when I saw the thin layer of ice that surrounded her for a month melt away– I knew it was time.
The time has come for Callie to give birth. And for Jayden and me to join her once she turns.
Sarah walked into the room the exact moment I was about to force one of the pack members in the house to fetch Callie’s parents and Jayden.
“I will get them. You keep an eye on her.” Sarah said and then immediately turned around and walked out.
Sarah didn’t have to tell me twice. She must have had a vision because she usually greeted me and spoke to me when she came in to check on Callie but today all I saw was the seer in her and the future Luna of this pack. If only she was given the chance, she would have made a fine Luna.
Jayden and I had already made arrangements months ago concerning our packs. We planned for this day and now that it is here it is time to say goodbye to what we have known and take on our responsibility of protecting Callie – even in darkness.
Callie started moving and then she screamed.
Never before had I heard anything quite as frightful and painful as this. Her screams left me momentarily deaf and out of sought, but I managed to hold her down to prevent her from moving.
“My child is coming!” Callie shouted and her screaming continued as she thrashed around on the bed.
Soon the room was crowded. Sarah’s mother, Layla, pulled Callie closer to edge of the bed and had her mate and Elijah hold Callie’s legs still at a bended angle. A blanket was thrown over Callie’s legs and Skye held her daughter’s hand while Jayden just watched – wide eyed – seemingly terrified.
“I can’t believe it, she is already crowning. Sarah bring the towels this baby –“
Before Leah could say anything else Callie let out an ear piercing scream that silenced the entire room and caused us all to cringe.
“Alex! Get Alex.” Callie screamed and she looked directly at me when she said it.
She was sweating and giving birth and she called for her friend. It hurt me for some reason but I ignored it and focused solely on Callie and her wishes.
“Someone call the Warlock. Find him now!” I shouted to no one in particular hoping that one of the pack members would hear.
Callie screamed as she pushed until finally she just went limp and Leah held the child in her arms. Callie was breathing heavily and there were tears in her eyes. She closed her eyes and began to sob.
Leah looked up at Skye and then at me. “It’s a boy.”
Wait. This couldn’t be the prophecy said that Callie would have a daughter. This couldn’t be right.
In less than a second I was by her side and saw that the child was in fact a baby boy; a beautiful baby boy.
He was crinkly and small, but absolutely beautiful.
The peace that I felt in that moment, that all of us must have felt was astounding. If this part of the prophecy was wrong then maybe everything else was wrong. Maybe, just maybe, Callie would be herself. I would take her out on a date and we could be together and raise her son together as a proper family.
That moment was short lived and ended when Callie screamed once more and when her eyes opened they were blood red.
Everyone moved to hold her down. I handed the baby over to Sarah and checked on Callie.
“There is another one. Push Callie!” Leah said
Callie pushed and screamed so loud. It felt like hours instead of mere minutes before Callie gave birth to her second child.
Callie was out cold and the second baby was indeed a girl. A beautiful baby girl with violet eyes and black hair that already framed her face. “Sarah and I are going to clean the babies.” Leah said as she walked out with Sarah. Skye followed them along with Elijah. I just sat down by Callie’s side and held her hand in mine as I cried for the first time since my parents died.
