Chapter 18

Alex’s POV When I heard that Callie was giving birth, instead of rushing to her side like I really wanted to, I ran to my room.  It was time to prepare the spell.  I grabbed the sedative I made and the other things I needed to make the spell work. To make Callie a ghost to all who knew her and knew of her.  I was just glad I kept it all in a bag for when the time came. And today the time has come.  The moment I had everything I ran to Callie’s room just in time to see Leah and Sarah walk out with the babies.  Wait. Babies? There were two babies instead of just one.  I looked at the babies and told Leah and Sarah to stop. For some strange reason I knew that I had to connect the two.  I recalled a spell that I learned from my grandfather when I first started practicing magic.  My grandfather was a medicine man who was called upon from far and near. Many knew of his talents and although magic cannot heal all wounds and diseases, my grandfather found a way to combine medicine and magic to help people. He told me there is a sign that he used to draw on the foreheads of twins so that if they ever got separated they will be able to recognize each other in passing. If they are separated when they pass each other they would feel the connection.  I took the baby boy in my arms and smiled at the precious little bundle. I said the Latin words for twin of mine, “geminae meus,”and used my finger to draw the rune on his forehead. Once I handed the baby back to Sarah, I took the baby girl from Leah and smiled down at her. I repeated the Latin words and using the same finger I used to draw the rune on the boy’s forehead I drew the exact same rune on her forehead.  Once I was done I handed the baby girl back to Layla.  “What is that you did?” Leah asked, her voice ever so maternal and protective and curious.  For a moment I wondered if I should tell her the truth of what I had done or not. There is no telling what might happen to the babies once the spell to erase Callie from their memories. “It was a harmless spell that helps keep the babies protected so they would not easily be harmed.”  “Really?” Sarah asked, her voice held doubt and I chose to ignore it.  “Yes, now if you will excuse me. I want to see Callie.” I was just by the door when I heard Sarah say the words I have said in Latin in English. She knew.  When I got into Callie’s room I saw Killian there with Callie’s hand in his own and he had tears in his eyes. Callie was passed out on the bed; her hair was damp and sticking to her face. She looked like she just fought in a war and came out without any scars.  “How is she doing?” I asked Killian as I sat down on the bed beside Callie and started checking her pulse and made sure she was doing alright.  She was passed out so the sedative might not be necessary right now, but she needs to be kept out of it for a long time. The spell I created to erase Callie from memory and turn her into nothing but a ghost a girl without a past would also transport her far away from the pack. There is no point in having her erased from the packs memory and have her here where Killian and Jayden will realize their role in Callie’s life.  “You tell me,” Killian said. “Everything is about to change.” Callie began turning her head side to side and she said one word. “Mika.” “What is she saying?” Killian asked. “Mika, I think she wants us to name her daughter Mika.”  Killian just looked at me, and then turned back to Callie and kissed her on the forehead. “Mika it is.” I wanted to smile, but my heart was breaking there was a chance that the baby girl would not be named Mika.  “Killian if you are going to stay then I need you to stay silent and let me do what I was told. If you interrupt me I will knock you out.”  Killian just nodded his head. Just as Leah and Sarah came back into the room, Sarah held the boy in her arms while Leah asked Killian to keep the baby girl, Mika.   Leah walked out the room and even though Killian still held Callie’s hand he held Mika and looked at her. “She is beautiful.” Sarah laughed, but her laughter was filled with sadness. “Her brother is quite a catch as well.” Callie seemed to be coming out of her state but when I saw her eyes red and she was growling I knew that I had no other choice but to sedate her before she harmed the babies. Before she gotup, I took the syringe that the sedative was in and stabbed it into her neck.  She passed out again but not before turning to Sarah and saying; “Jace, name him Jace.” “Okay, I will name him Jace.”  I couldn’t really believe it, even with everything that happened and in her state she managed to name her children. It was something she needed to do. She hadn’t even held them, but she had named them. She had given them an identity and all of a sudden I was brought back to a time in the past where Callie was talking about a dream she had.  It was two months after I first brought Callie to the man who was supposed to help her control the energy inside her. An energy we have not yet named. We were drinking coffee and she had a distant look on her face.  “What are you thinking about?” I asked her while I was smearing cream cheese on my croissant  “I had a dream where I was a mother of two beautiful children. They were in their cot and they each had a blanket on it with initials on them. The pink blanket had the letter M on it and the blue one the letter J.” Callie said before her voice just broke and she started crying. “He is a man w***e. My mate broke me. I will never mate with him; he is a dirty bloody bastard!” Callie shouted, she was shaking and I went to her to hold her in my arms. “I am never going to have children. I am never going to be a mother.”  Callie held onto me and cried. There was nothing else I could do. Callie was hurting, and the cause of her problems was miles away.  I smiled now at how messed up everything was. Callie did give birth, she had the two babies from her dream, but she will never be a mother to them. She was right about that. She would never be a mother.  It was time; I needed to do the spell now before Callie awoke again. The sedative was a strong one but for a person like Callie it would not last long.  Once the rune was drawn and I had the potion in my hand I began to chant, the first chant was to draw in energy from the pack to make the spell strong enough. It took a few minutes and even with all the energy from the pack I was feeling drained. I held Callie’s mouth open and poured the potion down her throat then began to chant the spell that would erase Callie from everyone’s memories. The Latin words soon turned to Arabic words and ended off in Gaelic.  I had to mix the three languages because some of the words I needed to make the spell work were only found in those specific languages. I repeated the spell and kept on repeating the spell until Callie disappeared from where she laid.  “What am I doing here?” I heard a sweet feminine voice say. I turned around and saw a girl I have never seen before her hair was light and she had a baby in her arms. “Who are you and why is there a baby in my arms?”  I couldn’t answer her because I only knew the answer to one of the questions. “The name is Alex and I am a warlock.”  She just stared at me, her eyes narrowed and I could almost hear her calling out to her mate through their pack- link. The baby in her arms began to cry and the girl looked down at the baby and she smiled at the baby as she began to rock him in her arms.  “Sarah!” A strong masculine voice shouted as a man appeared in the doorway. He had dark brown hair and looked like every other werewolf Alpha I have met; strong, determined and paternal.  “Jace.” Instead of answering the Alpha, who I presumed was her mate. She spoke to the baby in her arms. “A promise made. A promise kept.”  She whispered and then kissed the baby on his forehead.
