It even warranted a stern warning from Ms. Cassidy.
“Mr. Neville,” she lectured him one afternoon, “your relationship with Miss Gibbs is becoming more and more obvious at this school.”
“And we have conducted ourselves with great caution,” Mr. Neville was quick to remind her. He was not about to have the old battle axe dictating his love life.
“I agree. I just wanted to make certain that you realize your position both at this school AND with Miss Gibbs. Her probation is not yet over, and even when it is, I will be watching her deportment and her work carefully.”
“I don’t doubt that you will, though you know her work is flawless.” It occurred to Neville that Ms. Cassidy had an over zealous attitude toward Emily. He didn’t like it.
