Luna’s POV I walked into Hudson’s office, confidence radiating from me after the head start I got . I’d never been prouder of myself. He was buried under a mountain of paperwork when I entered. “Good morning, Mr. Carter,” I greeted him. He barely looked up, offering a nod in acknowledgment. Undeterred, I launched into it. “Yesterday, I dug deeper into the limited information we have, and I discovered something important. First, there’s no record of the maid ever being formally questioned — the one who supposedly saw the suspect near the car. Second, the person who came to the police was murdered, but there’s no documented connection between them and the initial suspect. That’s a huge red flag. It’s clear the same person committed both murders, so I suggest we start by interviewing the man again and properly questioning the maid.” I finished, feeling a surge of pride — until I heard Hudson's response. “Really? That’s it?” he scoffed. “When you said you had something, I thought you were going to solve the whole case overnight. What a disgrace.” I blinked, momentarily stunned. Then anger flared. “Mr. Carter, you have to start somewhere. We’ve already reopened the case. That’s progress. We need to use the information we do have. I suggest we go for the scheduled interview — and later meet with the maid for a little chat.” “Whatever,” Hudson said dismissively, flipping through another file. “I have better things to do with my time.” “OK, Mr. Hudson. Whatever helps you sleep at night,” I muttered under my breath. “Excuse me?” he said sharply. I turned, standing my ground. “Look, I know you don’t like working with people, but stop being a dick.” “Miss Blackwood, watch your language,” he said coldly. “What are you going to do about it — fire me?” I shot back. “Stop being difficult. This attitude is getting old.” I paused, letting the silence hang heavy for a moment before I continued. “Anyway, I already spoke with the Commander. He said we both need to attend the meeting because you because you’re his lawyer, and also because you want to be a wannabe detective .” I smirked. “Get ready. The meeting’s at 3 PM.” Without waiting for his reply, I turned on my heel and walked out, feeling his eyes burning into my back. Hudson’s POV I watched her leave, her hips swaying with maddening confidence. The nerve of her — calling me a d**k, throwing insults like they were nothing. Such insolence. God, I hate her. In the worst — or maybe the best — kind of way. Whenever she pulls stunts like that, it’s like I’m caught in her orbit, pulled in without warning or permission. I hate that I have to sit through a meeting with her... but if I’m honest, a part of me wants to. If not for anything else — for Eva.
