Broken Promises

chapter eleven

Rivers POV

It's after ten o'clock by the time we came up with our plan and had the back up forces called in for extra measures.

"Where the f**k could they be" I say, to the guys as we swarm the compound and start searching every room.

All of a sudden we all freeze as we here a very high pitch scream.

"That's got to be Rose", I say to myself.

As we follow the sound of the scream, we see a door that's basically ripped off of the hinges.

"Get your hands in the air and knees on the floor!" Kyle shouts, as we enter the room.

To our surprise there are only two people in the room which they seem to be both girls, but before I can register who they are I start to smell blood.

"Drop the knife" Tanner says, to the girl who is kneeling on the floor.

I look around to see where the smell is coming from and my heart sinks once I find it.

"Rose" I say barely above a whisper as I make my towards her.

That when I hear her say. "Riv.....is that really you."

"Get the other chick out of here and call an ambulance" I order to no one in particular.

"Rose, please wake up." I say, to her as I gently move her hands to inspect the stab wound and make sure nothing is broken.

"R...R..Riv..." She tries to say in a very weak voice.

"Rose, it's all okay now I'm here." I tell her pulling her onto my lap.

"The ambulance will be here soon" Kyle tells me as he puts a hand on my shoulder.

"There's no time. Get to the car, your driving." I tell Kyle as I pick up Rose and exit the room and out of the building.

We get into Kyles car and drive as fast as we can to the nearest hospital.

"Rose please stay awake for me." I whisper into her ear. "It'll all be okay soon." I say, to Rose as I stroke her hair and constantly making sure she's breathing while keeping pressure on her wound.

As we drive Rose is constantly drifting in and out of consciousness.

"She'll be okay" Kyle says, locking eyes with me through his rearview mirror.

After about a thirty minute drive and we pull up to the hospital and I quickly take Rose inside. I quickly find a nurse and explanation what happened and they immediately take Rose from me to get her check out.

"Sir, you have to go back to the waiting area. We will call you back once she's stable." Says a doctor.

I walk back to the waiting area to see Kyle and Tanner just sitting around playing games on there phones.

"I can't believe I let that happen. I never should have left her outside by herself." I say, while putting my face in my hands.

"There's no way you could've known this was going to happen man." Says Kyle, looking up from his phone.

"he's right you know" Tanner says.

"Still, I can't help feeling that it's all my fault." I say, standing up from the chair to go get a cup of coffee.

I come back from getting coffee to see Kyle and Tanner have fallen asleep. I don't blame them it's been a very long night. It's after one in the morning by the time the doctor come and says we could go and see Rose. I wake the guys up and we all walk back to her room where she's sound asleep. I walk over to her and see that she's had like five stitches put in.

"River is that you?" I hear Rose say, as she opens her eyes and turns her head towards me.

"Yeah baby it's me" I say, as I grab her hand and sit beside her.

She just smiles at me and motions for me to lay beside her.

"No s*x while we're in the room" Kyle says, adverting his eyes.

"Not going to happen" Rose says.

"But baby it'd be fun" I say, sarcasticly. Which earns me an eye roll from Rose.

"Rose do you know who did this to you?" Tanner asks.

"Yes, I do but can we not talk about the right now. I just want to forget about it for awhile." She says, with pleading eyes.

"Fine. It can wait till later to be discussed." Tanner says, taking a seat by the window by Kyle.

Before we know it we are all asleep.

A few hours later I wake up to my phone going off. I slowly and carefully move from Rose's ride so I don't wake her.

"What do you want." I say, into the phone not really caring who i was talking to especially at four in the morning.

"Well, hello to you to River" Jason says.

"Jason it's four in the morning. What's going on?" I say.

"Just wanted to see how everything went."

"Rose ended up stabbed by some chick. I didn't pay attention to who the girl was that did it."

"I'm sorry to hear that."

"Yeah." I say, getting bored of this conversation.

With that I ended the phone call and went back into Rose's room.

"Hey, who was on the phone." Rose says.

"No one you need to be concerned with right now baby. You should go back to sleep." I say, sitting back down on the chair beside her bed.

"River.... Kelly was the one who stabbed me." She says, with a shaky voice and tears in her eyes.

"Kelly?" I ask.

"Yes, she's one of the most popular in school and she think I took you from her."

"Oh, baby don't cry. You know I was never hers." I say, pulling Rose into a hug being careful not to hurt her.

"I know, but......" She starts to say but i cut her off with a kiss.

"What was that for?" She asks.

"Because you don't need to doubt yourself. I'm only yours, you should know that." I say, rubbing my thumb on her cheek.
