Finally, senior year I thought to myself as I was awoken by my alarm clock. This was the year I would finally come out of my shadow and follow my dreams, or at least that's what I told myself. "Rose, come down for breakfast" my mother called. "I'll be right down" I called to mother. "So, are you ready for your first day of school?" My mother asked. "Kinda, I just don't want to make a fool of myself" I answered while eating the pancakes my mother had made for me. "You'll do just fine sweetie" My mother said placing a kiss to my forehead. "Thanks mom" I said finishing my pancakes and walking out the door to my truck. ......... "Rose" Kailey called from the front door of the school. "Hey Kailey. How was your summer?" I said as we walked into the school. "It was fine" Kailey said with a shrug. "s**t" I mumbled after stumbling into the guy that everyone knows as River Grey. He's one of the bad boys of the school and I didnt know it at the time but he would changing my whole life as I knew it. "Watch where you're going next time." The voice said as he helped me pick up my books. I looked up to meet his blue eyes and was held captive by his stare. He looked at me with a puzzled expression and maybe another emotion I couldn't figure out. "I'm sorry." I said. "I didn't...I mean..." I trailed off not knowing what to say. While also picking my books up off the floor. I then grabbed Kailey by her arm and started to walk away. When all of a sudden he grabbed my arm which forced me to stop mid step. "Wait," he said looking into my eyes with an emotion I couldn't read. "I can't let you just walk away from me." "Why not?" I asked, letting go of Kailey's arm so she could continue her way to class before the bell rang "Because..." He trailed off, running a hand in his black hair making it even more messy than it already was before, but before he could finish he turned his head to see two of his friends were coming closer to us. "Hey River. Who is this?" His friend Kyle asked, curiosity in his voice as he looked from River to myself. "She's...She's just someone who bumped into me." River replied looking into my eyes. As River and his friends were talking I was finally able to get my arm out of his grasp and quickly left and went to my locker then quickly made my to Kailey who wasn't too far from us at her locker down the hall. "What just happened?" Kailey asked. "I don't know, but I don't think that's the last time I'll be seeing him." I answered as I opened my locker and let out a sigh. "So...what are you going to do after school today?" I asked breaking the silence between Kailey and I. "Work." Is all Kailey said. "Okay, well make sure you get Friday off." I said with a smirk. "I'll try to, but I dont know if my boss will let me." "Well you gotta try because I can't go to the back to school dance alone." I said with a pout on my face. "Like I said I'll try" Kailey replied. That's when the bell rang signaling that it was time to get to class. "I'll find you later. Okay?" I said as I shut my locker and went to first period. "Okay." Replied Kailey as we went our separate ways to class. ........ I was just getting settled in my seat in the back of the classroom when I looked up and saw River and his friend Kyle walked in. "Look, it's that girl that you bumped into in the hall this morning." Said Kyle as he left Rivers side to take a seat. That's when River came and sat down by me which I wasn't expecting and it caught me off guard. I try to focus on the teacher and what he is saying but it's hard to concentrate while River is sitting right beside me. "I'm sorry about this morning. I didn't mean to bump into you like that." I said looking down at my notebook. Taking notes that the teacher has put on the board. "It's okay Rose." He said which caused my to look up at him and stare into those blue eyes. "Y..you know my name?" "Well yeah." He said. "I've only had at least one class with you very year since middle school." "I didn't think you ever noticed me. Since you've never spoken to me or even looked my way." "I've always known who you were Rose." Turning his attention from the teacher to me." I could never miss those bright green eyes and that long blond hair." He said smiling at me with a smile that would make any girl fall for him. "Some how I don't believe that. I think you're just trying to mess with me like you do every other girl." I said as the teacher finished writing stuff on the board. "Fine believe what you want." River said with a cold expression on his face. "River." Kyle called. "We gotta go, like now." Was all he said. And when I turn around River had disappeared from the seat he was sitting in beside me. Leaving me to wonder what he was up to and why he wouldn't stop glancing at me as he and Kyle got up and walked out of the classroom. ......... Its about lunch time now and I'm dying to get some food because I haven't ate since breakfast. "Kailey have you seen River at all today?" I asked her, not sure why, but I just had to know if she'd seen him. Kailey just shook her head no. "I haven't seen him since this morning when you bumped into him." "Oh, okay." I said with a sad face. Which Kailey seemed to pick up on. "Rose can I ask you a serious question and you have to answer it honestly." She said with a serious expression across her face. "Sure. Whats up?" I looked at her as I paid for my pizza and we walked to a table so we could sit and eat. "Do you like Riv..." She started to ask, when the b***h of the school came up to us. "Stay away from River or I swear you'll regret it." Kelly said, looking at me with a death stare. "I'm so scared." I said sarcastically. "For me to listen to you, I'd have to care what you think." As I turned back to Kailey and ate my pizza.
