Broken Promises

chapter four

Roses POV

I woke up to my alarm going off and the sound of my mother making breakfast downstairs. I got out of bed to take a shower as I let the water warm up, I brushed my teeth and turned on some music that I had on my phone.

I stepped into the warm water of the shower and stood for there for a couple minutes, then I washed my hair and body. Then I climbed out, wrapping a towel around my body before going to pick out my outfit for the day. I settled on some black panties and bra set that I had gotten over the summer. Put on blue jeans, a cute staples black shirt that tied around the neck with, of course, my leather jacket. Instead of heels, I decided on a pair of black cowboy boots.

I then dried my hair and curled it. I put on some red lipstick, sparkly eye shadow, eye liner, and mascara. When I looked back into my mirror, I finally decided I was ready.

I then grabbed my phone, keys, and back pack then made my downstairs to the kitchen.

"Hey mom, I can't stay long I gotta go get Kailey because I told her I'd pick her up this morning." I told her, giving her a hug and taking a piece of toast she had made for me.

"Okay. Be safe." My mother said as she waved to me as I walked out of the door and to my truck.

After I put the keys in, I turned on the radio, and Bartender by T-pain came on and since I was in a good mood I decided to sing along. A few more songs came on then I pulled in to Kaileys driveway and honked the horn to let her know I was sitting outside waiting for her.

"What got you all dressed up?" Kailey asked noticing my curly hair and outfit.

"Just felt like dressing up today is all." I told her with a shrug, and a smile on my face.

"You got dressed up for River didn't you?" She asked, curiosity written all over her face.

"Okay, maybe I did." I say, as I pull to a stop at a red light.

"Be careful Rose, you know of his reputation with breaking girls hearts and that." She said, concerned as she looked at me, then out the window of the truck.

"I know, but there's just something about him....I just can't get him out of my mind."

And with that, we pulled into the school parking lot.

The first thing I see is a spot open by Rivers black mustang. So we pull in and I put my truck in park and we both climb out and start to head toward the school. My heart stopped when my eyes landed on River as he stood outside the school doors with his black hair pulled back. A black t-shirt that showed off his 6 pack abs when he turned just right, and blue jeans. He was talking to his friends but he stopped once he noticed me.

"Hey baby." He said with a smile.

"Hey." I said back. "Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure." He looked at his friends and they went into the school to their classes and took Kailey with them.

"Why was your car parked at a club last night?" I asked.

"Business." Was all he said, with a blank stare. I didn't press any further, seeing as he didn't want to explain it.

"Okay. Then was it your black mustang that followed me to my house and then just disappeared?" I say, as I cross my arms and give him a questioning look.

"Yes." He says in a shaky breath. "I wanted to make sure you got home safe."

"Is that so." I said curiosity clesrly written on my face as I made my way to class.

"You look beautiful today." He said, running a hand through his hair.

"Thanks. You don't look too bad yourself." I say, as I start walking to class.

After that school went on and seemed to end as soon as it started. I start walking out of the school with Kailey talking about homework and typical girl stuff.

"Rose, is everything okay? You don't look very well." Kailey says.

"I'm fine. Just a little bit of a headache." I say as we got to my truck and I put my bag inside.

But I barley get my bag in my truck I start having a harf time heafing her and my vision gets blury. And the next thing I know, I'm laying in Rivers arms, in a vehicle I don't recognize.

Rivers POV

"Help." Kailey says as she runs up to me.

"f**k," I say, as I see concern written all over her face.

Before she could say anything else about Rose, Tanner comes running up to us.

"Rose is laying on the ground by her truck unconscious." He says in between breaths.

I run as fast as I can to get to her with Kailey and tanner behind right behind me.

"Rose." I say as I get to her side and gently shaking her trying to wake her up. Then I look over at Kyle who is standing by his car that was parked next to Rose's truck.

"We got to get her to the hospital now." Is all I say as I pick her up and climb into the backseat of Kyles car.

"What happened?" Kyle asks.

"All I know is that Kailey came running screaming help and Tanner said she was laying on the ground unconscious." I say as I look at the most beautiful girl who is laying in my arms.

"What happened?" Rose asks as she wakes up and looks around to take in her surroundings.

After a few minutes Rose is starting to stir on my lap. So I try helping her sit up the best I can without rushing her.

"We're taking you to the hospital to make sure you're okay."

"Why? I feel just fine." She says sitting up with help from me.

"Rose what is the last thing you remember?" I ask her I'm a serious but concerned voice.

"I was putting my backpack into my truck and then waking up here." She says looking out the window.

"Rose you had fainted and went unconscious." I say putting my hand on her shoulder to try and get her to look me in the eyes.

"We're here." Kyle says as we pull up to the hospital.

We all walk in with one arm around her waist and the other holding her arm around my neck to help keep her steady. With Kyle doing the same on the opposite side.

"What can I help you with?" The receptionist asks as we reach the desk.

"She had fainted and went unconscious and we don't know why."

"Okay. What is her name?" The receptionist asks.

"Her name is..." I start saying as Rose cuts me off.

"My name is Rose Nelson." She says.

"Okay Rose just take a seat in the waiting room and a doctor will see you shortly." Says the receptionist as she types away on a key board.

I help her walk to the waiting room and sit her down in one of the chairs.

"Rose are you okay?" I ask as I notice her looking very pale.

"Yeah I'm fine." She says as she looks at me. "Could you get me a glass of water?"

"Anything for you." I say as I get up and go to get her a cup of water from the bubbler they have in the waiting room.

I walk back and see her laying on the floor and see Kyle trying to shake her shoulder to wake her up.

I drop the cup of water and run over to her.

"Shit." Is all I can say.

"Nurse." Kyle calls out. "We need a nurse over here." He practically shouts at the top of his lungs.

Three nurses then come running over to see what all the noise was about. That's when I notice she's having a hard time breathing.

"Rose it's okay calm down baby." I say whispering in her ear and stoking her hair.

That's when a doctor comes out and picks up Rose from the floor and takes her through different hallways and doors until we reach an empty room and he lays her on the hospital bed.

"Sir you're going to have to leave." The doctors says to me as I try to walk into her room.

"I have to be with her.' I say frantically trying to get past the doctor to be by her side.

That's when Kyle comes and puts his hand on my shoulder. "She'll be okay River."

I turn and look at him with a death glare but he doesn't back down.

"Fine." I say with an uneasy breath while turning around walking with Kyle out the door.

As we walk back to the waiting room I called Rose's mom and told her what had happened.

"Is she okay?" Her mom asks as she walks in the door of the hospital and makes her way over to kyle and I.

"Im not sure they won't let me see her." I say looking down at the ground.

That's when the doctor came out and took Rose's mom to her.
