Broken Promises

chapter twenty

Rose's POV

The next morning I wake up and look over to see that River is still asleep. As I lay there I start to think of the events that happened last night and I can feel my face start to heat up. After a few minutes a get up and make my way to the bathroom.

I walk into the bathroom and turn on the shower. As I let the water warm off i take my clothes off and inspect my stitches which are healing nicely. I then grab a couple towels and set them aside with my clean clothes. I then turn back and step into the nice warm water washing my hair and body.

Once done i dry off, put my clothes on for the day which consist of undies, sweatpants, a tank top, and a pullover hoodie. I then towel dry my hair and let it hang. That's when I hear the door to the bathroom open.

"Damn. I missed the show." River says in a sleepy voice.

"To bad, maybe next time." I say giving him a wink and walking out the door.

As I wait for him to get done, I get comfy on the couch and cover up with a very soft blanket. I then turn on the tv to a random show. While i look through the guide to try and find a good movie to put on. After a few minutes River comes out of the shower dressed in sweatpants and a t-shirt.

"Are you hungry? What would you like for breakfast?" he asks.

"How about some pancakes and bacon with a cold glass of milk and some peanut butter toast please?" I say.

"Sounds good I'll be right back with that." He says giving me a kiss on the cheek.

After awhile he comes back with a tray full of food, which he sets down on the coffee table. He then hands me my food and we both sit and eat in silence. We finish our breakfast and he takes the dishes back to the kitchen. While I go back to trying to find a show to watch. I click threw a few stations when i finally settle on the movie Maze Runner which is about half way through, but I didn't care.

"How are you feeling after last night?" River asks sitting back down beside me.

"A little sore, but other then that I am fine." I answer scooting closer to him.

"That's good to hear." he says putting an arm around me.

That's when his phone starts going off with a phone call from one of the boys. River then gets up from the couch and goes to the nightstand to grab his phone.

"Hey man. What's up?" He says waking about over to by me and sitting down.

They talk for what seems like forever. When they finally hang up River turns to me and says "We will be going to a different house later today and don't worry it's nothing to be scared of it's just for safety."

"Safety? You mean like a safe house? Why would we need to go there? Why can't we just stay here?" I start to ask.

"Rose..." he says pausing to try and find the write words. "it's complicated, but it's for our own safety to make sure no one else gets hurt. And we aren't the only ones going all the guys will be there and so will Kailey."

"Well that makes me feel a little better, but I would really like to know why." I tell him.

"Soon I hope i can tell you everything." He says to me as he gets up from the couch again to go pack some bags to take to the safe house.

Once the bags are packed he goes and loads them into his car. He then comes back to the bedroom and helps me to stand and walks me to the car. As he is helping me into the car I feel something warm start to drip down my belly.

"River I think my stitches came undone." I tell him as I start to lift my shirt to look at my stitches.

River stops and helps me look at the stitches and sure enough one came undone. So he helps me back into the house and grabs a first aid kit.

"This will only hurt for a second." He says as he cleans the area and restitches my stomach for me.

Once he's done we go back to the car and are on our way to the safe house.

"You need to tell me how and where you learned how to do stitches."

“That's a story for another time.” He says starting the car and pulling out of the driveway.
