Lazarus's POV
---
I was currently waiting in my room, waiting for General Marksman to meet me for a secret meeting. I sat on the balcony of the castle that was connected to my room. It was a fairly small balcony, two finely made mahogany chairs occupy the balcony along with a single Lilly in a vase on the table between the chairs. I sat in one chair, my fingers tapping on the small table impatiently.
Down below I can see the doctor's home in flames. The guards may have had to killed someone and set the fire to cover everything up. They were sent there personally by me, without the King of Oxindale's permission. When I got an anonymous letter, I know it was the doctors son. The letter read that Prince Onyx of Hailstein was seen entering the home and I knew my future wife was still with him. I could feel it in my bones.
I had a shipment of feminine products, clothing and a wedding dress delivered for my sweet Serena's arrival. I was ready for her. As soon as the General brings her through my gold encrusted door, I will claim her body. She will make a suitable wife and mother. She is a valuable asset to my secret plan.
Three gentle knocks comes from my door before the door opens. I can hear footsteps coming closer and the chair beside me creak under the General's weight.
"What happened?" My voice was low with silent anger.
I can see the man swallow nervously from the corner of my eye.
"By the time we arrive they were long gone. I believe that the doctor may have stalled us for time so that they could escape. I had to dispose of him and set the house on fire to cover my tracks." He informs me.
I sigh in irrigation, pinching the bridge of my nose. The cool breeze begins to blow, caressing my face and blowing the ginger strands of hair in my face.
"Please, at least tell me you investigated the house before you burned the whole place down."
"I did. We found a trap door behind a wardrobe that lead down into what seemed like a private study. Down In that study was a door that led to the sewers. There were beggars living down there, we brought them in for questioning." He say, looking out into the distance.
At least we can get some answers from the beggars...
"Start questioning them in the morning. After that, round the soldiers and form a search party. Once we find some answers, then we will set out. You are dismissed."
"Sir." General Marksman saluted me before taking his leave.
I sigh.
She will be mine soon.
All mine.
