Sera swallowed hard as the Gryi shut the door behind her, simultaneously activating the blackout curtains to rise swiftly to reveal the extent of the immaculate yet sparsely furnished apartment. Sera had never been here before, but she recognized her city through the glass windows immediately. She was alone at the top of a building—the highest level, the echelon. Sera's gazed fled further upward as she stared at her reflection on the glass ceiling. Night was falling and thick drops of water were beginning to pound with an indistinct throb. Again, Sera could not move. She searched for an alternative exit, there was none. Except for the hundred something foot drop from the tower windows. Every wall, except for the one that held the door the Gyri just locked behind her, was made of glass.
