Saving my reputation. Sharon Reynold's POV "The CEO of Reynolds PLC was caught in a very Compromising Position." The words of the headlines kept replaying inside of my head as I stood to my feet. When had this happened? "When was this posted?" I asked Alina with a frown. She sighed before she replied to me. "It was posted on the internet some minutes ago. And other news platforms have begun to peddle the news. It's quickly going viral." "Ah, f**k! It would only take a while before my father sees this piece of trash news!" I said in anger and I pounded the table with my fists. As if on cue, my office phone began to ring. I stared at it. The caller was my father. I sighed as I lifted the phone to my ears. His furious voice echoed through the phone and into my ears. "Sharon Reynolds, what on earth have you been doing?" He thundered at me. I sighed inaudibly in an attempt at self control. I did not want his words to reel me or get me angry. "Father," I began. "Tell me why on earth you are trending as a promiscuous w***e just two days to the voting. Do you want the entire board of directors to vote you out?!" He snapped. "No, father. But I-" "Oh, save it!" He interrupted me. "I want you home in a matter of time. Make it quick." And then, he dropped the call. I breathed a sigh of relief at that. "Oh f**k!" I said as I wondered what to do at that point. Alina's phone buzzed in her hands and she opened the phone to check on her messages. She looked up at me with surprised eyes. "What?" I asked, wondering if our s*x video had also leaked now. Gosh! I needed to take that down to stop it from circulating as fast as I could. "There's been an emergency board meeting called," she said to me. "The board of directors want to see you. It must have gotten to them." "Oh no, no, no!" I complained in disbelief at what I was hearing. "Who do I tell them that stupid man is?" I murmured in confusion. "Oh miss! You could tell them you are engaged to him. You could say that the man is your fiancé," Alina suggested with pressured eyes. I stared at her for a moment. She was so worried for me. Alina was also my best friend. She was actually the only friend that I ever had. I thought about what she had just said, hesitating on whether the decision would be a good one at this moment. I did not want anything that would make it worse. "Would that work?" "Trust me," Alina urged me. "It will help you to save your reputation," she said to me as her phone vibrated again in her hands. She checked it once again. "What is going on?" "Those old fools," she snapped. "They are already gathering for the board meeting. Is this how much they do not want you to be CEO?" She said with so much sarcasm. "As if any of those old cargoes can actually do a better job than you at this point." Though I was not supposed to, I laughed at the truth of her words, finding it hilarious. "I will have to go meet those fathers," I said to her as I smoothed my long hair with my hands. "Let us get ready. I know they do not want to talk about any sort of business that is not my business." The scandal brewing everywhere on the internet was threatening to tarnish my reputation, one that I had taken blood and sweat to build over the years. Or had that man been a set up for my enemies? Had he been the one who dared to have the both of us photographed? I prepared for the meeting by putting on a little make up, intending to be late to the meeting. They could not just order me about. They needed to know who was boss. I would not let anything undermine my leadership status in the Reynolds PLC. "The press conference is ready," Alina came to tell me when she was sure that everyone was in the conference room, waiting for me. "That is good. I am coming," I said as I turned away from the windows and followed her out of my office to the conference room. The clicking sounds of both our heels hitting the marvel floor echoed through the entire hallway as we walked. Once we got there, Alina stood outside the door, staring at me with a worried look etched onto her face. "Do not let them get to you, Miss Reynolds," she told me. I nodded to her and walked into the conference room after taking a deep breath. As expected, those fools had invited the media to the meeting. Cameras flashed at me from all directions, causing my heart to race with anticipation. The journalists badgered me with questions as I walked to the podium, refusing to say a word until I was staring at every one from the high podium. "Ladies and gentlemen," I began with a steady and authoritative voice, "I would like to address the recent allegations floating around in the internet." All those men in the boardroom were looking at me intensely, wondering how I was going to squeeze myself out of that mess. "The man in the pictures who wishes to remain anonymous until our engagement, is my fiance," I announced, borrowing Alina's idea at the crux of the moment. Little did I know that this advice would later change my life forever as the room erupted into a loud chorus of raised voices and multiple questions, but my unwavering composure held me together as I watched the dumbfounded people. The media bombarded me with questions just as much as they pestered me with their camera lights. I fielded each inquiry with inborn poise and an overflowing confidence. And I wondered just how I was going to convince my one night stand to really become my fiance and save my reputation from going to shreds. What if he was unwilling?
