Chapter 6

I couldn't contain my excitement as I jumped out of bed just moments before the alarm went off. The anticipation of the day ahead had me buzzing with energy. Today was the day to order everything we needed for the party, and I couldn't wait to dive into the preparations. With a spring in my step, I quickly got ready and eagerly started mapping out the tasks for the day. Aside from our party plans, there was one minor detail on our agenda - Daniel's Alpha meeting with Beta Felix. It was important for him to inform Felix about the tasks that needed to be taken care of while we were away. However, my primary focus remained on the thrill of planning and preparing for the upcoming celebration. There was an air of excitement surrounding the event, and I couldn't wait to bring everything together to create an unforgettable party. From selecting the perfect decorations to organizing the entertainment and delicious food, every detail needed to be meticulously planned. The joy and anticipation I felt as I started the day were palpable, and I knew that, with careful attention to detail, this party would be nothing short of perfect. I was the first one to wake up that morning, feeling refreshed and ready to start the day. Knowing that Daniel had a long and exhausting day of meetings the day before, I decided to let him sleep a bit longer. I quietly made my way to the bathroom and turned on the shower, enjoying the warm water cascading over my body. As I stepped out of the shower, a pleasant surprise awaited me in the bedroom – Daniel had prepared breakfast for us both. I couldn't believe how thoughtful he was, putting my needs before his own. "Did you eat yet?" I inquired, expressing my concern. He shook his head gently and replied, "No, my love. I wanted to eat with you." Grateful for his consideration, I hurriedly got dressed in the closet and joined him beside the bed. Sitting down next to Daniel, who was already dressed and waiting patiently, we both enjoyed our meal together. The conversation soon turned to the upcoming masquerade party we were hosting. "Have you figured out how many masks we should ask Greg and Silvia to make?" I pondered for a moment, taking into consideration the number of invitations we had sent out. "Well, I don't want to overwhelm them, but I think it would be best to have around 1500 to 2000 masks. Just in case everyone shows up," I explained. Daniel's expression revealed his concern about such a large number of guests potentially attending. After contemplating for a moment, he nodded and said, "I think that's the best bet, honestly." With our breakfast finished and plans for the party discussed, we set out to tackle the day ahead. It was moments like these – the quiet mornings spent together, considering each other's needs, and making decisions as a team – that affirmed our love for one another. As we ventured into the day, hand in hand, we were confident that with each passing moment, our bond would continue to grow stronger. When we arrived at Greg's shop, Daniel kindly dropped me off so he could quickly pick up some items he needed. Anticipating that it might take him some time, I suggested that he get his tasks done and meet me at the shop afterward. Conveniently, he proposed that we grab some lunch together, and I enthusiastically agreed, knowing it would be a wonderful way to spend time. As I stepped through the door of Greg's shop, a rush of nostalgia washed over me. The familiar scent that filled the air instantly transported me back to my childhood, evoking memories of rummaging through my grandmother's attic. It was a unique and comforting smell, a blend of mustiness and the faint aroma of wool. This distinctive fragrance had become synonymous with Greg's shop, and it never failed to put a smile on my face. It was more than just a smell; it was a testament to the craftsmanship and dedication that went into every item that came out of this store. In a world where mass production and impersonal service dominated, Greg's shop was a rare gem, a place where everything was made with love and by hand. The personal touch and attention to detail were palpable, and it was precisely why I kept coming back year after year for my annual party supplies. Calling out to Greg with a warm smile, I inquired about his wife, Silvia. Delighted to see me, he greeted me by my name, Luna Nevada, and informed me that he had just been talking about me with Silvia. It seemed that my timing was perfect as it was almost time for me to start preparing for my annual extravaganza. Chuckling at the uncanny understanding between Greg, Silvia, and myself, I couldn't help but feel grateful for having a special connection with this small, quaint shop. I knew this year what I was asking them to do was almost double that of last year's decorations. I wanted these masks. At first, he was a little taken back by the number. I then assured them that they didn't need to break themselves over this. Just to get as many done as they could. And to put love into them like they did my decorations for this party last year. That is all I ask. Then he and I went over everything else that I needed for the party. Once we were done with that, Greg told me not to worry that they would indeed have everything done for me. I thanked him again and told him to give Silvia my best. As I was walking out of the shop, Daniel was pulling up. It was nice to have a break from the hustle and bustle of the day to recharge and enjoy a meal together outside of the pack house. We decided to explore a nearby café, eager to indulge in some delicious food and engage in pleasant conversation. Little did I know that this lunch outing would turn out to be more than just a satisfying meal – it became an opportunity for us to spend time together with out having pack members of duties pulling us in different directions. When we finished with our outing, I was glad to be back at our pack house. I loved getting away, but this place was home. Daniel and I could hear some commotion coming from inside, and we quickly rushed in to see what was going on. To our surprise, there were a few young members of the pack who seemed unhappy with some of the recent decisions that each other had been. Daniel immediately used his Alpha tone to get their attention. Instantly, they shifted back to their human form. “What the hell are the 2 of you doing? I have told all of you plenty of times. NO FIGHTING IN THE PACK OUT!” Daniel roared. Both of the young wolves were complaining and pointing fingers. I could see frustration in Daniel's face and I told him to go up stairs and I would deal with it. He did exactly what I said and did not say another word to the teens. As I listened to their complaints and concerns, it became clear that they weren't seeing things from all angles. They were only focused on their own needs and desires, without considering how those choices would impact everyone else. That's when I realized just how important it is for us as a pack to work together towards common goals. We can't let individual interests get in the way of what's best for everyone. These 2 were best friends and needed to respect that fact that not everyone thinks the same. Later that night, the full moon was rising high in the sky, casting an eerie glow over the forest. This was precisely why the young wolves were fighting. Werewolves have control over their shifting, but the full moon plays a part in their attitudes and anger sometimes. I went outside to get some fresh air. The air outside was thick with the scent of pine and damp earth, and the only sound was the rustling of leaves as a lone figure made its way through the underbrush. I could tell it was a werewolf, but unsure if the wolf was from our pack. The wolf looked almost silver in color. And I know for a fact we don't have a wolf of that color here. I linked Daniel and told him we had an unknown wolf in the tree line on our pack land. Without thinking, Daniel shifted and he, along with 2 warriors, rushed out to check it out. I ran back into the house and upstairs to our room, waiting for him to link me. If anything needed to be done, my job as Luna was to get all the women and children into a safe space and then to meet wherever the fighting was. Because of my hybrid, I was more powerful than even Daniel. However, I like to let him think he's the powerful one sometimes.
