I Have Been on the road for two days. When I left Rose’s house I stopped at a small car dealership and found a cute little green 1965 Volkswagen Bug. I smiled to myself. The price was only 500 Dollars. It took less than 20 minutes to get the keys before I was on my way out the door.
My little car was a champ and we were having a good time. “Hey Ella, any chance we can find somewhere to run for a bit,” Willow asks. It is good that not far is a large national park coming up according to the road signs. “Yeah, we have about 30 minutes until we reach an exit that will lead us to Talladega National Forest.” She just nods her head. She still sounds so weak. I know it's hard for a wolf to survive the death of a mate, much less the loss of their unborn.
It's not much longer when we reach the forest. We park in the parking lot and after checking in we hike to a secluded location for the night. As we walk I start to think back on my life.
Flash Back,
It was my 16th birthday, I was so happy. I get to shift. I have been talking to Willow for about 3 months. Each of us is different but we all have our wolves for at least a couple of months before our shift so that we can bond. Mine is named Willow. She is the best. I can't wait to see us tonight. When the clock strikes 12am it will officially be my birthday and I can shift for the first time. But until then I have to sit here and deal with the stupid party that I must have.
Being the Alpha’s only daughter and younger sister to the soon-to-be Alpha. When I say younger sister I might Add that is only true by a hole flipping five minutes. I must present myself for inspection of the pack. I hear willow chuckle. “We are not presenting ourselves for inspection. Bella, we are the Alphas. We must be at our own shifting and birthday party.”
“I know Willow but I hate parties. The only party I want is when I meet our mate. Or I can prove to everyone I am just as strong as the Men in this pack, I mean I might be the younger twin, but I am just as strong as Marco. I look over at Marco. He is standing with the future beta. He is a few years older than us but he and Marco are like Brother’s. Jack winks at me. I can't help my blush. He is 19 now. He still has not found his mate. “ I hope we are his mate.” Willow wags her tail. I do too. I have always had anything for Him.
“Hey Baby sis,” I roll my eyes at Marco.
“I am a whole five minutes younger than you.”
“Still makes me the Big Brother and you're My Little Sister.” HE emphasizes every word. Like it's somehow going to change the fact that we are twins.
“Whatever Marc, Can I skip out yet?”
“No, It's our 16th birthday and it's almost time.” Just then I hear my Father Rafael call the pack to attention. “Ladies and gentleman, tonight when the clock strikes midnight and the moon is at its fullest our twins will shift for the first time. Let's welcome them up here before the shift starts. Marco Allen Nightingale, Future Alpha of our Pack and Mariabella Marie Nightingale.” We both stand up and walk to our parents. Of course, they call him first. It's always about Marco. No, I am not spoiled or bullied, the truth is our parents are great. They love us very much. Mom is amazing, so sweet, so loving. I can't wait to have pups so I can be just like her. Dad is tough but loving, he is a good father and a great Alpha. I hope that my mate is in our pack so that I never have to leave.
As we are standing on the stage. I feel it, something changes. “It's time Bella,” I hear Willow whimper in pain. I Fall to my knees, “Bella '' I look up and see that Marco has also fallen to his knees next to me. “Bella.. an” I hear Marco call in my head. My hand instantly finds my brother's hand. We both grip each other tightly to help the other with the pain. Being twin’s we share each other's pain like it's our own. So both shifting and trying to help the other is excruciating to no end. It takes what feels like hours but it's only a few minutes. I hear the first snaps of my bones. I can't help the scream that rips through my mouth. Just as the scream is coming to the end it's replaced by my very loud growl. I hear an Echoing growl. I turn to my left to see Marco. He is slightly taller than me not much, he is jet black with his bright blue eyes but in his wolf form, they are a dark royal blue. He got our mother's. She has the Brightest blue eyes. They were like the clearest ocean. I got my Father’s Honey brown eyes. I look down and see myself. “Bella we match, your eyes are a dark chocolate brown.” Marco yap’s like a puppy, “Your’s are a dark blue.” I tell him back. When My father calls the pack to shift everyone shifts and is ready for the pack run.
Flashback over.
With a small smile on my face, I come out of my thoughts when I find a small stream with a shallow pool. I set my camp up near it. I let out a big breath. I have been holding that in for days. As I watch the water ripple I settle down for a small nap before I let Willow out.
