Chapter 2

"Linda, he's your brother. You and him had been through the same thing. Don't you think it would be good if you just get along with him? He's like your only family who cares for you" "I don't really think I can. I mean, we never seen each other after the divorce and the only I heard from him was the Christmas cards he sent me. He never write or tried to contact me. He left me like my parents did", I said coldly. Hailey held my hand. "Just give him a chance. He does let you to stay with him, right? Maybe he tried to make it up to you after all these years". I ignored what she just said. Sure he wanted to make it up after all these years. But I just couldn't. Since I moved to boarding school, it seemed hard to trust someone or giving people second chances, except for Hailey. Sure I had many friends at school, but they were nothing but my pets. I never tell them my stories or my problems. They just stuck with me all the time because I was popular, like Hailey. The food came after a while and we started to dig in. It was heaven! I moaned in appreciation on each bite I had. Hailey looked at me amused. After we had our lunch, we went to Hailey's dorm. Luckily she didn't have a roommate, so we could have the place for ourselves. Her room has been decorated and organized. It was simple with one bedroom, a bathroom, and a small kitchen. It was small but felt homey. I liked it already. "Wow, this place is nice", I said awe. Hailey wasn't a type of girl who did decorating or organizing. "Did you do it yourself?" "Of course I am. If I want to be an architect I should start by decorating my own room, right?", she said, feeling hurt. Yep, she wanted to be an architect. "Sorry, it's just you're never that type of girl", I laughed. "Geez, sorry to make you disappointed", she said sarcastically. We spent the rest of the day, watching TV in her room and talking. We even had takeouts for dinner. I just wished we could do this everyday. It was nice having the place all for yourselves. No parents’ yelling or your annoying brother. I wondered if I could ask Brian to let me live at a dorm. It must be nice, especially if I could be Hailey's roommate. I stayed at her dorm until 8. I didn't realize the time passed so quickly. I bet Brian would lecture me after I went home, but I didn't care. I bid Hailey farewell and went out of the building. Luckily the place was strategic so it was easy to find a cab. After the cab pulled over in front of Brian's apartment, I handed the money to the driver and asked him to keep the change. I went inside the lobby and was greeted by the same security this morning. "Welcome, Ms...", "It's Linda. Just call me Linda", I smiled. "Ms. Linda", he smiled. "Are you here to see Mr. Brian?" "Um, I kind of live with him, now. I'm his sister" "Oh, my apology, Ms" "It's fine, Taylor", I said. He chuckled and nodded. I made my way to the elevator and pressed the floor number. When it reached the floor, the door opened and headed to the room. I opened the door and closed it behind me. There, I spotted Brian sitting on a couch in the living room with a guy, watching TV. When he heard the door closed, both heads looking at me. "Where have you been?", Brian asked. He didn't look happy. "I told you I was with my friend", I walked to my room. "Wait, have a seat", he said strictly. I guessed this was his 'attorney' mode. I surrendered and took a seat across his friend. He was handsome with brown hair, blue eyes, and a perfect jaw line. He looked familiar but I didn't know where I'd met him. "So, this is Ethan. You remember him? Ethan Clarington", my brother said when he realized I stared at his friend in confussion. Ethan Clarington. Of course. He was my brother's best friend. He used to come to our house to hang out and he was the one who always picked on me. I used to have a crush on him. "Sure, how could I forget?", I said sarcastically. Ethan chuckled a little and that was when he looked into my eyes and I was almost melted. His blue eyes always made me nervous. "So, what's he doing here?", I said, sounded rude. "Well, I forgot to tell you that he lives here too, with us. We bought this apartment together", Brian said apologetically. I raised my right eyebrow then sighed. "Oh, great", I mumbled. "What did you just say?", Brian asked. "Nothing. Can I go to bed now? I'm tired", I said, standing up. "Wait, we'll be having dinner", Brian said stopping me from moving. "I’ve had dinner", I said and walked pass him making my way to my room. I swore I could hear Brian's sigh and grumbled. Well, so there were two guys whom I had to live with. It was just getting better and better. Chapter 3: First Day I was awake by the sound of my annoying alarm. After I reached it and pressed the button, it became silent. That's what I'm talking about. I took a glance of the clock and it was 06.00. I groaned loudly and tried to stand up. It was Monday and the first day of school. Honestly, I was a little nervous. Being somewhere new where people don't know you. It was like the first day in boarding school. But luckily, I got Hailey with me so at least I wouldn't be alone at all. I made my way to the bathroom to shower and brushed my teeth. After doing my business, I walked back to my room with only towel wrapping my body. I was choosing my outfit for school when I heard the door room next to me was opened and closed again. I guess Brian had woken up. After dressing up and applied some mascara, I took my bag and took a glance at my watch. It was almost 7. I quickly made my way out of the room and went straight to kitchen to grab something quick to eat. I seriously didn't want to be late on my first day. "Hey, good morning", Brian greeted me. He was making pancakes and Bacons. I just nodded, opening the fridge and pour myself a glass of milk. "First day of college. You must be nervous", he said, placing the last pancake on the plate. "Not at all", I replied, drinking my whole milk in one sip then grabbed two pancakes with my hand and went to the door. "That's all you'll eat? We have bacons", he looked at me confused. "I don't wanna be late", I muttered, opening the door and closed it behind me. I knew it was rude but I didn't care. I walked to school that day, realized that actually the place was just two blocks away when I took the cab on Saturday. Hailey texted me that she would meet me at the front door so we could walk together to class. Yeah, we had our classes together. I spotted her beautiful blonde hair was put down to her shoulders. She looked gorgeous as usual. She was talking to a boy. He was attractive with his dirty blonde hair, and quite muscular body. When I got close to them, they turned their heads to me. The boy smiled widely to me, realizing he had a beautiful green eyes and a dimple on his right cheek. Wow. "Great, you're here", Hailey grabbed my hand. "Linda, this is Mike. Mike, this is Linda, my best friend", she introduced us. I smiled sweetly to him and he returned it with his pearly white. He's hot. "Hi, nice meeting you. I've heard so much about you", he said. I looked at him confused and turned my attention to Hailey who was burning red. "Well, we met at the dorm after you left on Saturday, his room was across mine.", she explained shyly. "Oh, nice to meet you too, Mike" I turned to him again. "So, are you going to class with us too?", I asked changing the topic. "Well, yeah. I had two classes with you guys. Biology and History", he answered as we walked side by side. "Biology? Well, cool", I said, realized we had Biology that day. "How about we walk together?", I offered. "I'd love to", he smiled, showing his pearly white. Hailey grabbed my hand and asked Mike to head first. He looked confused but then nodded. After he left, Hailey slapped my arm. "Ow, what's that for?", I said, rubbing my arm. "He was so totally into you", she squealed. I rolled my eyes to her. "You always said that to boys who talk to me", "And I was right, wasn't I? But from the way he looked at you, it was different. He seemed hooked by your presence", she said, excitedly. "Then, what the other boys saw me like?", I asked to her silly statement. "The others only wanted you for your body. But luckily you were smart enough not to sleep with them", she said in disgust. Yeah, I'd kissed some boys at school, but never went into s*x. They kept insisted me to do it, but I wasn't ready, that was why I call it off when they kept pushing me. I didn't take dating seriously because in the end, I knew it never worked. There was no such thing as love. It was all a lie. My parents’ marriage was the valid proof. "Can we discuss it later? We're gonna be late", I changed the topic. She took a glance to her watch and her eyes widened. "s**t. Class started in 10 minutes, we need to hurry", she said and ran to our class. We reached there before the professor took steps to the class. We sighed in relief. We saw Mike and he waved his hand to us gesturing to sit with him. I sat in the middle between Mike and Hailey. I didn't want to sit beside him. But couldn't help it because he moved to the seat next to him and asked me to sit where he just sat plus, the professor was already in class. So there was no use to argue. The class was boring. Mostly the lesson has already been taught in high school. So, I didn't take notes. Mike nudged his elbow to me. I turned to him in annoyance. "I know this class is boring, but at least, taking notes would be nice", he smirked. "I think you guys are dumb to take notes because it is technically the reviews from high school", I said calmly, didn't want to sound rude. Then turned my attention to the teacher. He chuckled. "Ouch, that hurts. But you have a point though", he said then put his pencil down. I ignored him and continued listening to this boring teacher. I could sense that Mike took few glances towards me but I acted dumb. After an hour, finally, the class was over and I sighed in relieve. I organized my books, ready to go to my next class. "What's your next class?", Mike asked. "Math", I replied with boring voice. "Oh, well, I have English next", he said cheerfully but there was sadness from his voice. "Well, see you later then", I said grabbing my bag and headed out with Hailey. Hailey gave me a glare. "What? " I asked after we left the class. "He was totally into you. And you ruined it", she scolded. "What? He asked, I answered. How did it ruin anything?", I shrugged
