Light it up

445 Words
I had the best ride, snuggled in the back with Greg, and I'm pretty sure Kelly took the long way on purpose. We finally arrive at Greg's house and Vinny and Greg's brother Steve are waiting for us by the fire pit. Greg opens the back and helps me out and we all grab seats by the pit. "Who's doing the honors?" Steve yells waving the lighter around in the air, the guys all jump around and fall down wrestling. Steve grabs my hand and puts the lighter in it, "alright Molly, show 'em how it's done." I grab some kindling and get the fire started, everyone wails and gathers around. Soon the fire is going strong and we get sticks ready to roast marshmallows. Greg sharpened the end of the first one and passes it to me, I continue passing it and do the same with each additional stick until everyone who wants one has it. I take mine, grab a couple marshmallows and get closer to the fire, Greg follows suit and is nice and close. "Looking cuddly over here" Vinny says putting his arms around me and Greg. Greg laughs and gives him a nudge, but he hangs around and whispers to me, "I think my boy has a little crush, let him down easy babe," he gives me a wink and walks away. Kelly and Scott are looking at stars in the hammock closer to the house and Lexi is trying to get in closer to Vinny while Steve and Vinny add wood to the fire. Lexi has lots of guys who are interested in her but she only wants an older guy and insists he go to another school, so Vinny is who she's landed on. "Hey Vinny, want to help me find some sparklers, Greg said they may be inside," she says in her most flirty voice. "Aunt Grace, any sparklers?" he yells from his log, Greg's mom appears in the window, waving a couple boxes, he grabs them and gives them to Lexi. I realize that I never checked in with my dad so I excuse myself after eating my s'mores and call him, "Hey Dad, we're having a cookout at Greg's and will be heading back to Kelly's house after we eat." I say as casual as possible. "Oh are you, Greg, have I met this Greg?" he replies. "Yes, you have met him many times, Greg Lawson." He waits for a minute making goofy sounds, "Alright, he sounds legit, have fun! Tell Grace and Tom I said hello." he says like he didn't just work with Tom yesterday. "Love you dad, bye!" "Love you kiddo, behave!"
