His confessions about his mother, our shared pain, that kiss... it all swirled in my mind like autumn leaves caught in a storm. But as dawn painted my ceiling gold, I knew I had to face an even harder conversation. Adrian. "You don't have to do this now," Cora cautioned as I dressed. "The pack needs you focused on—" "He's still my brother," I cut her off, though my hands shook slightly as I braided my hair. "After everything... he's still blood." The walk to Adrian's quarters felt longer than usual. Guards stood at attention, their eyes carefully avoiding mine as I approached. The room still held Oliver's lingering scent—honey and jasmine, but with that underlying note I couldn't quite place. "Come to gloat?"
