"Hey! Are you okay? I called you three times, but you didn't hear me. You look like you were in a different world just now."
Celine blurted out. I laughed at her. "I'm fine, I was just thinking about something", I assured her.
After we gave our orders to the waiter, we settled ourselves in our usual spot, at the back, away from the other customers, and waited for our orders to arrive. Celine, does almost all the talking. She gave me an update about her newly opened jewelry business.
After we graduated from college, Celine worked in one of their family's businesses for a while before she decided to make her dreams come true, which is to start her own jewelry business. She is very lucky because her family supported her decision right away. It's not easy to start a business from scratch. Especially when it needs a huge amount of money. However, her parents funded her business so she could start immediately. Money is not a problem for them. Her brothers even volunteer to model her designs.
Her business was a big hit in elite society. Her brother's modeling her jewelry was a big help as well. And why not? They looked like a Greek god, strikingly handsome and possessed a very strong and powerful aura. Just showing their faces is already an asset and enough to encourage others.
Not only that, her business offers only the best quality jewelry, since all the jewelry and gems are manufactured and produced in different countries, such as Italy, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Russia, China and Tanzania.
As for me, Celine's parents offered me a job in one of their businesses. I will only have to choose where I prefer to work. However, I kindly declined the offer. They have already helped me a lot. Ever since Celine and I became friends, they have treated me like a family, helping me financially so that I can focus and finish my studies.
Before I knew Celine, life was very hard for me. I struggled financially. I have to work 2-3 part-time jobs just to cope with my bills, house rent, food and allowance. I skipped breakfast, only ate a sandwich at lunch and instant noodles at dinner. I also need to save money, so I can send it to the orphanage.
So, when they found out my situation, they supported my studies and let me stop my part-time jobs, so I could focus on my studies. At first, I strongly disagreed, but after a lot of debate, they managed to convince me.
*end of flashback*
I was not listening to Celine anymore, my eyes were focused on the car that was parked just outside the coffee shop. The car window was half open and I saw the person inside. The man looks familiar. I have a strong feeling that I saw him somewhere, but I am not sure where. Suddenly, I feel like I've been spilled with cold water on my face. My heart beat so fast when I realized who the person was inside the car. I can't be wrong. He is Tristan Montero! The same person that I wish never to cross paths with. What is he doing here? I thought he was back in Greece for good. I felt restless. I'm thankful that the car has finally left without him noticing me.
I stayed quiet the whole time until we finished our coffee and pastries. I was not aware that Celine was observing me and noticed my silence, but she didn't say anything. Time passed quickly, and before we knew it, break time was almost over. Celine and I exchanged our goodbye kisses and hurriedly went back to our own offices.
The coffee shop is just near to our building. The Montero building. What a coincidence, right? Tristan's last name happened to be Montero as well. At first, I was reluctant to apply to this company because I didn't want to be reminded of anything related to Tristan. But the salary and the position offered are very tempting and hard not to accept. I have to think about my future and someone who depends on me. All my life, I have suffered enough. Especially when Tristan left me. My whole world stopped the moment he left. I was on the edge of giving up my life. If it was not for Sister Theresa, I would have been gone by now. I thought he was the one for me and that we had a strong love foundation. But I was wrong. He was a selfish, arrogant bastard who left me just like what my parents did to me when I was 10 days old. They're both heartless. They only think of themselves. They don't care about those they leave behind. I hate them and I don't want to see them ever again!
I still remember when I passed all the interviews and got the job as the Head of Marketing. I was in awe and I couldn't believe it. Who would have thought that a multi-million dollar company would hire someone like me? But Oh! I forgot to mention that the Montero's are the eldest brother of Celine's mother. I am quite sure that, aside from my qualifications, they have also helped me get hired.
When the elevator finally reached the 27th floor, I immediately stepped out and went back to my cubicle to continue checking the research for our new project. Being the head of the marketing department and as a team leader of the new project, I have to make sure that everything is well-prepared and perfect. The company trusted me enough to let me handle the project, so I had to give my best shot. There is no room for a single mistake.
