“You did this!” Tyrek tried to shove Darius, but he shifted and Tyrek fell to the ground.
Darius’ iris flashed red as his alpha aura tried to push through, but he kept his cool.
“Try that stunt one more time, and it’d be the last time you’d be able to.” Darius threatened and Tyrek felt his already weak wolf retreat.
He cowered into the corner and Darius let out a dry laugh, “yeah, thought so too.”
With that Darius walked away from him.
Tyrek stood up and headed to the changing room, his head filled with daunting thoughts,
‘I’m on the verge of losing my scholarship, my one-year relationship has been flushed down the drain. All because I put Elira first, then she goes ahead to betray me for Darius?’
His fist connected with his locker as these thoughts flashed through his head.
‘I worked so hard to be able to work with the head surgeon, which is a rare opportunity, and there it was in front of me, but Darius simply couldn’t bear the thought of me getting the opportunity, and Elira? She just offered to help, without a care in this world for what could happen to me and my career. All of them are going to have to pay for putting me in this position.’
Blip.
[You can lick your wounds later, but right now, you’ve got to get yourself to the nurse’s station, before you actually lose your scholarship.]
Leo’s voice sprang out of nowhere, startling Tyrek.
“You show up, now? After avoiding my questions?” Tyrek lashed out.
[Look, you can either stand around here, jeopardizing your scholarship the more, or you can be on the move to your assigned duty post.]
Tyrek seemed to snap out of it, pick his notepad and run to the elevator, so he could catch up with others.
Before the elevator doors closed, he saw Elira in the hospital, which was weird because she barely ever came to visit.
Then he noticed that she was holding unto Darius and looking at him with longing.
Tyrek turned his gaze away as the elevator doors were closing. Just then, Darius used his free hand to stop the elevator and get in with Tyrek, while Elira tagged along.
“Tyrek darling, I heard you got demoted.” Elira purred, whilst flashing her puppy dog eyes at Tyrek in mockery.
Tyrek ignored her.
“C’mon now! Don’t try to act all macho with me right now.” She said, tugging at his sleeves and she looked…
Guilty.
Tyrek widened his eyes in shock, looking at her ‘sorry’ demeanor.
“I know I owe you an apology for making you send in your submissions late and I just want to say that I… I…” She stuttered and looked down.
Tyrek used his free hand to tilt her face so she could look him in the eye.
His ears perked up like a puppy that had seen his owner after a while.
Darius stood to one corner of the elevator, taking in the scene that was unfolding before him.
“I don’t regret a single moment of it.” Elira spat and went back to Darius’ arms.
Darius burst into a fit of laughter.
The look on Tyrek’s face was that of bewilderment.
He didn’t see that coming.
‘Can’t believe I expected better from Elira, even after all she has done to me these past few days.’ Tyrek shook his head in disappointment.
“I can’t believe you fell for that.” Darius managed to blurt out, “that was way too easy”.
He turned to Elira and said, “You literally had him wrapped around your fingers in a matter if seconds.”
Elira beamed with pride.
Tyrek’s fists clenched and unclenched. He was ready to let out his entire frustrations on them, even when he knew he had no fighting chance, but he just had to let out his anger, one way or the other.
But he weighed his options, and realized that he was already in trouble after being framed for plagiarism and any other mistakes(s) he made right now could lead to the loss of his scholarship, so he kept his cool.
The elevator doors finally opened with a ding at the hospital lobby.
Tyrek was the first to get out, as he began to feel suffocated, trapped in the elevator with those two.
Darius and Elira were still close to the elevators, when a patient stopped Darius to make inquiries on how to set up an appointment with the head surgeon.
While he was responding, he noticed that another patient had stopped Tyrek and was being friendly, whilst trying to get some information about the head surgeon.
Before Tyrek could respond, Darius cut in, “Hi there! You are probably a new patient at this hospital, so I’m going to advice you”,
“For your safety and health, I would advice you to stay away from a supposed student ‘doctor’, who doesn’t bother about carrying out basic assessments, but rather prides himself in plagiarizing other people’s works.”
“That is a lie and you know it.” Tyrek yelled in defense, but Darius cut in,
“A lie? So, you mean you didn’t get demoted today?”
Tyrek’s face fell and he didn’t respond.
“What happened? Cats got your tongue? Or do you think I’ve forgotten how you came at me in the hallway after you were demoted?”
Gasps were heard from the patients that had now gathered in the lobby.
Elira smirked beside Darius.
Tyrek’s face flashed with rage.
Blip.
[First mission: Give Darius a taste of his own medicine within 30 minutes.]
[Reward: 100 bonus points + wolf strength level 1.]
[Punishment: Loss of scholarship]
Leo commanded.
Tyrek’s confidence seemed to have grown with that command.
He looked around and saw a patient with a bad cold.
He used his eyes to control the patient’s movement towards where Darius had been standing.
Darius shifted to get away from the patient in disgust, when his scrubs got stuck between the elevator doors. Just then, the elevator went up, dragging Darius up, making him dangle helplessly while he struggled to get down.
His embarrassment made his eyes turn red and with his claws, he tore up his scrub top, freeing himself from elevator doors.
“Are you okay?” Elira shrieked and went to his side.
He was a sweaty mess, and he tried to get away from the prying eyes.
The patients murmured, while Tyrek’s eyes gleamed in amusement.
Darius moved to get away, when one of the faulty light fixtures in the lobby fell on his bare back.
“Ouch!” he cried out in pain, and the burn marks were visible on his back.
The patients looked at him with pity.
He despised that look.
It was like the universe was working against him at that moment, so he did the next best thing he could think of.
He ran away to save himself from further embarrassment.
[System bonus unlocked: 100 bonus points, wolf strength level 1.]
Tyrek let out a low chuckle as Elira ran behind Darius.
“This is just the beginning.”
