I spun around and found him there, his dark trousers clinging to those strong thighs. His dark eyes glinted in the night, almost merging with the shadows themselves. Tall and striking, his broad shoulders filled out the dark shirt he wore with ease. For a brief moment, the pain, the exhaustion, the warm trickle of blood from my nose—everything faded. All I could do was stare at the man before me, his lips curved in a faint half-smile, his hair swept back neatly, the crest of his kingdom pinned to his chest.
