Lyra's POV
I watched the way Dimitri stumbled back, the way his eyes went from the usual coldness to blank at my revelation. The way his body involuntarily shook at the fact that the children I had been searching for all this time were his. He seemed to be at a loss for words, his mouth opening and closing as he tried to process what I had just told him.
"Lyra... our children?" he finally managed to say, his voice barely above a whisper. The shock in his eyes was evident, and for a moment, I almost felt sorry for him.
"Yes, Dimitri," I replied, my voice steady despite the turmoil inside me. "They're ours. I found out after I left. I didn't know how to tell you."
