(Juniper’s P.O.V)
I kissed him! I can’t believe that I kissed Euan Leonard O’Connor! Goddess above, I can’t believe that I did that! Euan pulls me to him, hugging me tight enough to make me squeak in surprise.
“Euan, we need to get back to your party,” I say.
“f**k the party, I just want to be up here with you.” He says, pushing his face into my hair and sniffing.
“Are you sniffing me?” I ask with a giggle.
“You just smell good today, Junie.” He responds.
His arms fall away from my body, and we make our way back down to the party. The last two days, I couldn’t get Euan out of my head after our little “date” he took me on for my birthday. It was probably the best birthday I’ve ever had. I don’t celebrate my birthday anymore, no sense inviting kids over who make fun of me. I don’t even really like my parents and siblings celebrating it either. Euan made it special and even though I was annoyed that he had gotten me a gift and then surprised me, I couldn’t help the way my stomach flipped and my heart beat just a tad faster for what he had done for me. I decided I was never going to take the necklace off, it was too beautiful and special to ever take off. The sound of laughter and talking soon reaches us as we step off the stairs. I start to get nervous once more. I don’t like crowds for obvious reasons and only my family, Euan’s family, and Royal Gamma Cormac and his family know how to sign. So, my conversation options are limited. Hooray.
“How are you doing, Juniper?” Angus asks as he approaches me and Euan.
“I’m good, sort of want to go home already.” I sign.
“Totally understand that. Crowds have never been your thing.” He signs back while laughing.
“How is Royal Gamma training going?”
“Can’t complain, but this whole sorting out the warrior schedules and s**t is seriously a nightmare.”
I giggle, knowing that Angus has never been the most organized individual, which is a huge departure from his father’s personality. He probably gets it from his mother, Lucia, who is a spell caster from Khisfire.
“How is your magic coming along?” I inquire.
“Not so great. Mom thinks that I only have a bit of spell caster magic and so it will take more energy for me to use it.”
That’s the thing about hybrids. One gene is dominant over the other and there may be traces of the other gene, but only one gene can be dominant. That’s what makes Luna Queen Morrigan, Euan, and his siblings so special. Their genes are all equal, making them extremely powerful, and it’s the same with me and my sister, Stephanie.
“Well, get to working on it, Royal Gamma!” I sign, with a giggle.
Angus rolls his eyes but gives me a hug. A low but loud growl comes from behind me, and I see Euan’s eyes darken, meaning his wolf was coming forward.
What the hell? I think to myself.
“Euan, are you okay?” I sign, after pulling away from Angus.
Euan closes his eyes and shakes his head before he says, “Yeah, Junie. I’m fine.”
He glares at Angus before grabbing my hand and leading me out to the backyard of the house where the party was. It was loud and chaotic, and it made me want to go inside and hide because people were staring openly at me. My mother had convinced me to wear something other than all black and a hoodie, so here I am, standing in Euan’s backyard in a dress. I did look pretty in it though. It was blue lace chiffon, with a half sleeve, and a pleated skirt, with a gold belt around my waist. It came to just above my knee and I wore gold flats with it. This was a complete departure from what I normally wear but it seemed that Euan liked it because when I walked in his jaw was on the floor. My body warmed at his reaction to my outfit, my cheeks pink from the way it made me feel having his eyes on me. I know I’m only 16 but there was something about Euan that always drew me in and made me want to be wrapped up in his arms. I just hope that this feeling goes away when he finds his mate.
(Euan’s P.O.V)
I couldn’t help the growl that escaped when I saw Angus hugging Juniper, Dakota and I saw red seeing his hands on her. Rationally speaking, I knew they were nothing more than friends and loved each other in the way that siblings do. We were all raised together and we were more like family than just friends, but still. He needs to keep his hands to himself.
“Dude, what the f**k is your problem?” Angus asks as Juniper makes her way further into the backyard.
“Nothing. Just keep your hands off Junie.” I growl, Dakota coming forward.
Angus’s eyes widen in disbelief.
“She’s your mate!” he whispers.
“Shh! Shut your f*****g piehole! No one can know, especially Junie! She’s not 18 yet.”
“What are you going to do until she is?”
I don’t have a reputation for bedding she-wolves like my dad did or the way that other Alphas have. I’m a virgin, and I had planned on staying that way until I met my mate. I had heard all of the horror stories of Alpha’s who had slept around before finding their mates, and it caused so much drama and tension in their packs. Junie is worth waiting for though, she always has been, and she always will be.
“I’m going to wait for her. It’s as simple as that,” I say.
“You sure you can hold out for that long?” He chuckles.
Angus and Owen are my opposites. At 17 and 18, respectively, they have both lost their virginity and have reputations for being players amongst the pack’s she-wolves. They were going to be in trouble once they met their mates though because they have their fair share of stage-5 clingers that won’t give up without a fight. And I mean a full-blown, knock down, drag out, fight.
“I’ve lasted this long, what’s another 2 years?” I murmur, finding Juniper sitting under a tree, a look of contentment crossing her features.
She’s my everything. I say to myself.
She’s OUR everything. Dakota corrects me.
